[Solved] Time differential problem in v5.1 at Minnesota

Featured Replies

Hello Ray,

Have you tried to activate the check box "Use System Time for Default Scenario" in the settings?

@Afterburner, thanks, that option is already selected. I'll deslelect it, save the scenario and see if that makes any difference.

Turning off the option "Use System Time for Default Scenario" has made no difference. This is baffling. I'm running the same build as others but I have the problem and they don't.

I'm going to rename prepar3d.cfg and see if building a new one fixes things.

Problem solved. I rang my mate Pete Dowson and he reminded me of the timezone.bgl in Scenery\Base\Scenery. It was disabled presumably  as a result of installing SimElite Time Zone Fixer.

But why didn't Time Zone Fixer give me the correct times? Pete thought it might be a layering problem with the entry too far away from the base scenery layers.

Anyway, for this quick 'n dirty test I disabled Time Zone Fixer layer and re-enabled timezone.bgl. Result is I now have a one hour time difference at Manchester. The rest of the world's time zones should be fine too.

I'll check Time Zone Fixer is working in slow time. Thanks to those who helped. 👍

Without Pete Dowson, flight sims as we know them would only be a video game, and not a very good one at that.

I still remember the early problems with the winds aloft in FSX that MS didn't seem to be able to fix, but Pete did.

Agreed. Pete has contributed a huge amount to the flight sim community over the decades. Yes, it really is that long!

The problem apppears to have been my installation of SimElite Time Zone Fixer. It was layered too low in scenery.cfg. Seems it likes to have top priority.

All is well now and I'm enroute from San Diego to Phoenix. Current local time 07:19, 14:19Z.

You should try and do my job on a nightshift when the clocks change forward or back in the UK.

The crew always turn up for report either an hour early or an hour late in the morning,  thats happened for me the last 22 years... drivers...my god

@fluffyflops, I can only ever remember a single occasion when a colleague turned up late for work. She had not turned on the radio during Sunday and was genuinely gobsmacked when she arrived at 09:30 thinking it was 08:30. It gave us a good laugh back in the early 70s. 🤣

No excuse these days with so many timepieces that self-adjust. 😉

you need to work in flight ops, its always the same once a year when they turn up an hour late.

same as the summer half term week holiday (like last week)  and the Feb Half term week, they all go sick and fatigued due no childcare as the kids are off school, and the August Bank Holiday weekend.  but thats for another topic.

Glad to read you got it solved. Where would we be without Pete ? 😉
