Aerosoft CRJ VHHX NavData

Featured Replies

Hi all, Could we possibly get some brain power on how to insert VHHX into the CRJ? My post was dismissed, and promptly locked by the Aerosoft forum"sheriff",quote," The included navdata are real world data and as Kai Tak doesnt exist anymore, there are simply no such data And there is no way to add them," this is patently false,as the data is included in NaviGraph, and the default MSFS 2020 FMC's. Why are they so lazy and dismissive over there? Not a good way to keep customers......

No, I just have a pet peeve with this obsession about Kai Tak.

It's long gone. Lay it to rest and fly places that actually still exist.

The priority of navdata providers, and ASOBO for that matter should be first and foremost to make sure that all airports that exist in the world at this point in time and that have published approaches exist in the sim, and not care about what once was.

Isn't the solution to buy navigraph? They offer this data and have a license for it, whereas Aerosoft probably doesn't. Isn't it like $5 to get one cycle and that solves your problem?

Otherwise...

The navdata is organized in flat text files and can, therefore, be modified.

There are two files in particular that you'll want to find - there's an airports file, and you'll need to add VHHX into that file using the same format as the other airports. In addition, there's a PROC folder, which contains a text file for each airport and in that file you'll find all the procedures for the airport. This file will need to be created and populated with the info you want to see in the FMS.

This is tedious, but it can be done easily enough if you have the right data to add to the files. But getting the data brings me back to...the only place I could think to get it, I guess, is Navigraph if you say they offer it in their dataset.

How could we simulate a DC-6 or any other older bird if going back on the timescale would "not be desirable"? Before my inner eye I see a sim, in which I can spool back in time to any year I wish. Simulating the Wright Flyer would give me another scenery than flying a propliner in fifties. Good AI algorithms would be able to recreate how cities grew over the years (some subtractive approach, from the today oulines of a city subtract 3% every year or so).

I mean, even in Corona times we would not really like to simulate only real flights. Because there are not many. So a lot of flying done in MSFS simulates pre-Covid times...

So does this mean, by the same logic, that aircraft that are not flying today should not be in the sim such as lets say Concorde or similar?

I have the yearly Navigraph subscription,it doesn't solve the issue.

I guess I'm confused then. You said "this is patently false,as the data is included in NaviGraph" - so then now I don't understand what the missing piece is here? Have you actually loaded your Navigraph data into the CRJ?

Never. That's what simulators are for, to simulate. Besides, it's a FAR more interesting approach than the ultra-common, boring VHHH.
