Regional Turboprop

Featured Replies

Are there any payware or very good freeware regional turboprops out there in production or development?

I’m talking the 30-80 seat size.

I think there’s a Q300 and ATR on flightsim.to

how good are they now? I first got them the modelling was average at best. Functions limited.

There's the NextGen EMB-110 Bandeirante. While it's not PMDG or even Just Flight quality, it's still a very enjoyable aircraft that has passenger and cargo variants. I use it with Neofly (cargo version) and find myself flying it more than anything else I have. There's a long thread on the official forums about it, the good and the bad - https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/new-release-nextgen-simulations-embraer-emb-110-bandeirante/384169/3

Cheers, nice tidy plane

What about the Virtualcol Beechcraft 99? I was wait and see when it was released but It looks like they have updated several things since.

The exterior model looks fine, but the VC is fairly basic compared to most other MSFS airplanes. It flies OK, although the autopilot needed some attention (the plane always goes first into a moderate descent when I engage vertical climb). The turbo engines are not well modelled, but they have a response delay (as they should) and do the job. However, the plane is very cheap and even is on sale occasionally. I would say it is adequately priced - you can't expect study level for that amount of money. I actually fly it a lot because the airplane has very good parameters for economic simulations.

Asobo has an ATR 42/72 in the make but will take time to finish.

Albeit not a turboprop my favourite short flight pax plane is currently the BN2 islander.
