FSMS 2020 wont start

Featured Replies

Hi,  I have just had a MSFS update on start up and after installing , I then selected a flight and the game crashed , Since then, If i right click on the icon and go to run as Admin, the MS Store opens up and its asking me to install Game services but on the top right , It says The Product is installed.

I have no idea on what to do, If it will correct itself or not, I have rebooted the PC, But no way of starting the sim.

I have had the FS since launch and first time having this issue.

Thanks for any help

Your Game Service is most likely 'broken'. Mine tried to update an failed every time.

Solutions are provided here:

Hope that helps.

Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.

This worked for me.

Settings -> Apps & Features -> Search for "Gaming Services" -> Advanced Options -> Repair

This is incredible. Can you just imagine... an MSFS2020 update has caused a problem?????

I know this comment is not particularly useful and I apologise.

Myself ... I am just doing my third consecutive uninstall/reinstall after 3 consecutive updates broke my sim.

My problem is black MFD and PFD on at least five aircraft.  The last time it happened I was advised the problem lay with AI Traffic, and strangely it cured my problem but only for one MSFS2020 start and then the problem came back and resulted in the second consecutive uninstall and reinstall.

I am just wondering how much longer I am going to persevere with this absolute nonsense.

Trouble is though, that I love this programme so much.  I would be a happy man if it was garbage and I could just go back to XPlane11 and P3D permanently.

I wish you much luck in solving your problem.

Did you install in the default directory? Seems like some installed it on another drive or directory and have problems with updates.

Bobsk8,

I most certainly have it installed on its own drive.  I believe that by doing so, I avoided many problems with the initial release.  I had no problems other than working out the key mapping and camera system etc.  It has only been with the last four updates that I have encountered problems.

Where it is loaded should not really be significant anyway in my opinion.

I only have a small C drive and that, apart from the initial advice greatly influenced my original decision.

i and others have it on a different drive and no problems, so thats  not really an issue.

i do wonder why some users have these issues with ms shop, what is different on their  setup?

the wonders of win10.

i hope you will find some solution some day.

its really crazy that  a non ms shop(steam) does that better than the store.

only reason i got it from ms store was, i will run it sometime on xbox.
