why are my clouds looking weird. Can you see these lines too? Using a 3090 and everything is on Ultra:S

I try to install LIMJ Freeware Scenery from flightsim.to but it isnt showing up. I have put both files into the community folder :S

uh, what is wrong with that pic?

i do see something that could be falling rainstripes, you mean those?

i see several limj sceneries, so impossible to tell yours.

He's talking about the over lapping lines you see when looking at "soft clouds" it's pretty obvious. 

Yeah, I get that too.  Overcast skies have always been terrible when you get up close and when you get in the clouds the FPS goes to a slide show.   The clouds look good in MSFS but they aren't perfect.  For instance a lot of times there are blocky lines of high level clouds that look awful, like mine craft clouds.  I have change my opinion on MSFS clouds.  They really aren't that realistic. They move too fast and morph into weird blobs, the heads look weirdly pointy, the thunder clouds are too dark, they look grainy and like they are dissolving. thunderstorms have odd looking "anvils". Then you get weird TAA issues when looking through several layers of clouds, ghosting, strange halos, blue streaks at night. Hopefully, DLAA 2.2 and Ray Tracing will fix some of these issues.

That's normal. Clouds in MSFS are nothing special and have a lot of artifacts and inaccuracies. To begin with, they always seem out of focus and have these blurred soft edges. The thunderclouds have incorrect shading. We are also missing a ton of cloud types. But all of this stuff is promised in the huge planned weather update thats coming q4 2021.

looking foward for the weather update then. Let'S hope they will fix it, because as far as I know they won't open it for third party, so we depend on asobo at this point.

I believe the real problem is the way the real world weather is implemented and that is how we see all these strange anomalies like blocky, striped clouds, weird transitions between layers.  The clouds engine its self is really good.  Here is an example: This is how the real world weather is implemented with southwest summer monsoon storms.  In the first picture you notice the blocky diffused "altocirrius clouds"  In the second picture you see the weirdness when thunderstorms are depicted where it looks like a 2 blobs of a lava lamp tearing apart. And the third is my hand tweaked version of how I believe it should look with thick thunderheads into the anvils.

as i said before, there are several of those sceneries , specify the right one and we can check it out.

They said it towards the end of the last stream. They are working on something big together with meteoblue. For end of year or probably spring next year.

Are you talking about clouds - graphics / visuals, or Live Weather ?
