July 28, 20214 yr Here I have 2 MSFS pc’s. This morning on both first the 1 Gb preparations update has been installed. The Left View pc continued with SU5, but the server showed a black window and after few seconds it shut down. I uninstalled MSFS, rebooted the pc and tried to install MSFS. Within 2 seconds I already got a message “Installed”. No MSFS pictogram on the desktop. In menu start I could launch MSFS. After 15 sec the blank screen for 4 seconds and back on the desktop. So I called MS Store Support and the employee has tried lots of things in almost 2h time, but was not able to solve the issue. What he did : Solution 1: Make sure there are no pending Windows 10 updates Solution 2. Update all apps via Microsoft Store Solution 3. Reset your internet connection Solution 4: Resetting the Microsoft Store cache Solution 5. Reset Microsoft Store And he un-and reinstalled MSFS through the MS Store and also tried it through the XBox Live App did not solve it. Myself I have reinstalled the Game Services. Here what happens : The MS Store and the XBox Live App and Windows itself state that MSFS has been installed. But not the 1 Gb preparation update. When checking only a few empty folders inside the MSFS main folder have been installed. A total of just 16 kb : https://www.dropbox.com/s/slfimab67vy8nop/Foto 28-07-2021 20 04 24.jpg?dl=0 So if any of you has a suggestion or has had this too and was able to solve this, post it in this thread. I really do not want to reinstall Windows as all other programs, including P3Dv5 are working correctly. Who has the solution ? Did an uninstall then installed to a different drive entirely. It was moving it to a different drive after re-installing gaming services then starting fresh It saved all my settings and I then pointed MSFS to my original Community folder. Yeah, I'm actually an ex engineer and when it went wrong (started with MSFS not starting) it REALLY went wrong. ONLY uninstalling everything then installing to a different drive and re-installing everything solved it. Problem is I can't remember if it was a specific order I followed in the MS store Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

July 28, 20214 yr I have the same issue, except I did not uninstall MSFS2020 since I'm hoping to get some more helpful information from zendesk. Their first 10 steps are done without any help, MSFS is starting with black screen and then nothing, in task manager the FlightSimulator.exe is marked active first then inactive forever. XBox and GamingService reinstalled without help, community folder is empty no additional program like process lasso. I have no idea what todo as workaround, sound driver reset also done... black screen with 1.18.13.0 in window title bar after start. Edited July 28, 20214 yr by cseu Ralf Andreas

July 28, 20214 yr the problem seems to be an interrupt after the first package install from the game store of around 600MB, then the MSFS shows only a black screen in some cases, like mine unfortunately. I will not reinstall the simulator until further notice from zendesk because I'm not sure this will solve the problem finally. Ralf Andreas

July 29, 20214 yr Author Spook to soon. Halfway the install suddenly the install shutdown When trying to start MSFS the same black window that closes after a few seconds. The MSFS install screen where you can choose the 123 Gb download does not come back anymore…. AV uninstalled. CBoxLive App uninstalled. MS Store reinstalled. The install on the other drive also leaves to empty folders which cannot be removed. 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
July 29, 20214 yr Things like that is one reason I haven't bought MSFS yet. I have never had issues with installing other sims like P3D, X-Plane, Aerofly 2 or DCS, so I really don't get it why it have to be so difficult to install MSFS. Good luck, I hope you solve the issue.. Jorn Lundtoft I don't always stop and look at airplanes.........Oh wait, Yes I do. Good luck, I hope you solve the issue.. There have only been a handful of similar problems I have read on here (frustrating as they must be) compared to the millions of successful installations, so why not take a punt even using the cheaper option through MS store Pass (or whatever it is called) which can be cancelled after 1 month if you do not like it or decide to buy it. Good luck, I hope you solve the issue.. the steamversion has less problems in this way. you only need a ms store version if you wnat to play also on console , but indeed why not try out via gamepass?
