February 16, 200719 yr Unfortunately I cannot show some pics as my computer blew up and am in the proecess of reinstalling. Some Examples: These examples are FS9 default to FSX default. The Alberni Canal on Vancouver Island. In FS9 it at least came to Port Alberni. In FSX it only comes about 1/3 the way to Port Alberni. There are also 2 larger lakes north east of Port Alberni which are missing in FSX, but were in FS9.In Barkley Sound there are a lot of islands. FS9 did show a few of the larger ones, but FSX does not show 1 island. These examples are within 50 miles of Port Alberni.Fortunately I have been able to fix some of these problems using grnd2k4. Although it doesn't work perfectly, at least I can add water to the land. As far as adding islands it will not work.I am hoping there will be an upgrade to grnd2k4 that works in FSX.
February 16, 200719 yr Hi Golf.I realise this thread is going way off topic...I would not expect any FSX upgrade to Ground2K4, but perhaps Christian Fumey will surprise us.Meanwhile, Luis Sa has a beta for SBuilderX that is targeted for FSX.http://ptsim.com/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=18And there is FSX-KML for the google-interface fans.http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=81Regarding landclass, shorelines, roads etc...The Aces team works within a limited budget, and limited resources for time and people. Some terrain features were given a higher priority than others... but in all cases, the landscapers were limited to existing data. I don't think many development hours were spent tracing satellite or aerial images to obtain more accurate polys and lines. They used existing shapefile or landclass data, that fit their development constraints. 3rd party developers can concentrate on relatively small areas, and are not constrained as the Aces team, concerning budget, manpower, or time. So they should give us better terrain features. If they couldn't, they wouldn't waste their time or money. Commercial developers simply pass that expense onto the purchasers.Microsoft could easily create a team to develop quite detailed terrain and pass the expense along. But then we're back to paying $500 for addons. For you and I, we can develop small, accurate freeware sceneries using things like SBuilderX and FSX-KML, but no one needs to pay us, and we pay no royalty fees for the freeware data or backgound images we trace. So with time and patience, we can surpass even the 3rd party developers.Dick
February 16, 200719 yr Dick. Thanks for the links. Will have a look and see if I can wrap my old brain around another program. :-lol I have e-mailed Christian Fumey and asked him if he was planning on doing an upgrade. If I remember correctly he said they were looking at it but there were some problems.Guess all I can do is hope, as I really like the program. It is very easy to use.Mac
February 16, 200719 yr Hi must be doing wrong. Everyone is complaining about frame rates being so slow. I taixed from National Airport this morning and got 50 fps. After I took off I got 40-45 fps. When I landed at Myrtle Beach I had 50 fps again. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?.............He He!!
February 16, 200719 yr What are you 10 years old? Do you still get an allowance from mommy? Grow up! For what you get FSX is a deal. How about adding something to the discussion eh? How about adding something to the community eh? Have you once in all the dribble you have written recently, just once offered anyone any help? From a quick search, I say NO. I would suggest you take a short hiatus from FS, regain some reality in your life and then come back and see if you can add to the community rather then destroying it EH?You know I wonder sometimes, are you and Ozzie one and the same? You both whine about the same thing, and when people post to try and upbuild, you break them down. Funny how trolls like you, are always the most vocal and abrasive.I for one will from here on in will staunchly defending the upbuilding of this community. I'll look for every post by you and be right there to show you for what you really are a troll.Jay

February 16, 200719 yr >>>People buy the FS series because it's the thing to do.>Habit. Most play it once, get hugely poor performance and then>shelve it. The numbers mean little. It has always been a good>seller though.<<>>So then when you brought up the point that FSX had a 2.6 out>of 5 rating on Amazon dot com, again the same thing applies,>the numbers mean little, I can agree with that.>>JeffIt's a good seller with poor performance. It doesn't matter that it gets a 2.6 rating people will by it because it's the thing to do. I've bought every single version since the Sublogic days. This is the poorest version and deserves the rating it has. Didn't stop me from buying it. If I didn't you'd cry and squak that I was dissing it without even trying it. Well I've more than "tried it" and it stinks performance wise. Oops, sorry I hurt your feelings.

February 17, 200719 yr Number of sales tell you nothing about quality. The number one Game for reasle in the uK car boot sale is FSX. . . . . that says it all! I saw one for
