August 9, 20214 yr Anybody know if there is a fix for this. I noticed when I go from the land to the water i get a blocky overlay over the water. It goes away if I get far enough out on the water, or if I get high enough. Here is an example. Thanks. https://imgur.com/a/moVpE80 Edit: I also added two more photos. Not sure if this is related or not. But on a flight from TNCM to Saba I noticed the water looked horrible. Featureless and just bad. Is that just because this area is missing a water mask? August 9, 20214 yr Are you using a 3rd party scenery? From the pictures, it looks like you have a 3rd party scenery installed. If so, it could be something with the 3rd party scenery and SU5 that the 3rd party dev did not update yet. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
August 9, 20214 yr For me this came with SU5 and one can see the same on land. Also in areas, which are not covered by 3rd party sceneries. There is also a thread in the official forums, but I can't find for now. So long, Ron
August 9, 20214 yr Author yes. I've seen this in places with and without payware scenery. Found this thread after I posted here. Unfortunately it does not appear there is a solution. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/water-texture-problem-square-patches/398743 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

August 9, 20214 yr Yea, I've had these around my local airport since release. It has to do with the water masks and either custom scenery or photogrammetry. For instance, if you fly out of st barts, youll notice the square tiles move as you're flying over the water after takeoff.

Oh Ok then, I've only noticed them this past weekend and I've mainly been flying slow & low since release and never saw them before. Either way, yet another graphical issue! August 9, 20214 yr Author while i've had MSFS since alpha, I've barely used it until the last couple weeks. This is definitely annoying. I really hope one of the next world updates focuses on the Caribbean. I'm also still trying to figure out what makes photogrammetry look melted sometimes but crisp others. I have a 1gb connection. 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

For me, in specific cities I fly in, like Vancouver, photogrammetry takes time to load. Since downtown Vancouver has photogrammetry, if I fly slowly to downtown Vancouver and the photogrammetry has time to load, then it will usually be decent when I get there. However, if I slew very quickly to downtown Vancouver, I will see the melted buildings look. If I then pause the simulator and give time for the photogrammetry to load, the once melted buildings in downtown Vancouver will then look good again, after the photogrammetry has time to load (even if the photogrammetry is fully loaded, there is still a minor melted looking effect, but it's only noticeable if you are up close to the buildings). Rolling cache may help this I think, if the rolling cache stores the photogrammetry data. Edited August 9, 20214 yr by abrams_tank i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
August 9, 20214 yr I have the same issue, it's happening on water. Without any third party scenery. It's particularly irritating in areas with really nice water like the Bahamas. August 10, 20214 yr Author Another weather thing I noticed down there. Is that the ocean at times just looks very low quality and super flat. Anybody else? https://imgur.com/a/fbiShKK Hmm, I think it's something with the lighting on the water. If there is sufficient lighting, you should see some ripples/waves, even if the waters are calm that day and there isn't much wind. Perhaps under low light situations, you cannot see the ripples/waves. But maybe this is something we can bring up with Asobo at future Twitch Q&As. The good thing is, Asobo is responsive to the community so if the community pushes Asobo on a specific topic, they will usually put the request from the community into the queue. Before each Twitch Q&A, Asobo will open up a forum for people to post questions and where the community can upvote the issue. If your issue/question gets upvoted to the top, Asobo should address it during the Twitch Q&A. Edited August 10, 20214 yr by abrams_tank i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
