Once per second stuttering only on arrival

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have an odd situation going on that I cannot figure out.Using P3Dv 4.5HF3. I fly only the PMDG 737NGXu and 747, with Active Sky P3D ,and Navigraph charts, GSX  and Chaseplane, FSUIPC for controls.  My rig is AMD 5900X with GTX 3090, 32 GB RAM.

So here is the deal. I have smooth performance when I taxi and takeoff and fly. But after I land there are one per second stutters while taxing and turning that ruin the immersion. The stutters occur at standard P3D airports as well as complex airports like FSDT KORD. Nothing I can do seems to resolve this when it occurs. I have tried lowering AA, or even turning it off. Pushing P3D sliders to the left, etc. Exiting Chaseplane. Not invoking GSX. There was a similar situation about a year ago tied to Navigraph Simlink bug, but per their forum that was resolved with an update, and whether I use Navigraph or not it happens, and disabling Simlink does not prevent it from occurring. I have plenty of RAM and VRAM unused, and the processor and card are not running hot etc. This will happen with either PMDG plane.

Now if I exit P3D and reload the arrival  airport, with the same addons as before and start taxiing around it is perfectly smooth, just like it is when I depart from an airport! So something is interfering big time with overall sim performance at the airport just by flying awhile.

I am wondering if anyone else experiences this or has an idea what could be causing this one per second stutter.

Have you considered your video driver version?  I recently had an issue with stutters and decided to downgrade from the latest video driver to an earlier version: stutters went away.

I'm suffering from the same exact thing, disabling road vehicle traffic (setting it to 0%) removes those stutters for me. If you're using orbx vector then it's worse, because with it, you'll have a lot more cars on roads.

Road traffic is my guess too. Even at 7% there were frequent stutters. If your setting is higher it could make it worse. Try setting all three traffic sliders to zero and see if it fixes it.

Hi folks, so I disabled all  vehicle traffic, and even remembered I had Installed UTX and disabled all cars in UTX but the issue persists. Out of interest, after landing and again experiencing the problem instead of exiting and restarting the program, I simply reloaded the default PMDG panel state and the stuttering disappeared. That suggests to me now that the problem is with the PMDG aircraft itself, like maybe some sort of memory leak? I will take it up on their forum

Thanks

Greg

mmmmm... I think you maybe into something as I made all my NGXu panel states custom. I will try further more with the default one (engines running)

I have had this also so please report back your findings.

What happens it you save a flight during the approach and then restart/reload that flight ?

Thanks

If I save a flight say along the STAR and reload it, the stutters still occur. I was able to pinpoint the onset for my particular scenario PANC to KORD as starting 4 miles out from the runway with the rhythmic stuttering noticeable when looking out the cockpit or using an external say wing view and looking at the ground passing below.

I have a ticket into PMDG and will let you know if they can determine anything. I uploaded the scenario and it would be interesting to see if they can duplicate the findings on their end. These stutter issues are always a challenge because there can be so many contributing factors.

After working with PMDG Tech Support it turns out my problem was a corrupt Panel State. PMDG when installing includes panel states like Short and Long turnarounds for example. I had selected the short turnaround and built my flight around it. At their suggestion I redid the entire flight, but used the default engines running panel state that the aircraft is always in when it starts up. The once per second stutters did not  recur and performance was back to usual. Why a faulty panel state would not show up until landing, I do not have a clue.

I note that when installing the PMDG 747 recently that their panel states date back to 2019. After installing, there are updates available, and I think that the updates make their products incompatible with the old panel states which are not updated, and were installed originally. So they recommend always starting with the default engines running, which is updated  and then putting the aircraft into the desired state from there. Probably one could then save the panel state and it will work fine, until the next update.
