August 14, 20214 yr I have been away from home for two weeks so have only just installed hotfix two. I was expecting lighting and colour to be different, but it wasn't. Colours still look washed out and the lighting looks flat. Anyone else underwhelmed with hotfix 2? I deleted the nvidia lighting and colour filters prior to the update, but had to put them back on. I am struggling to see any visual changes. Within the game I can see the correct version number. I have tried the setting graphics to low then ultra in the game. Yup, there have been countless threads on here since hotfix 2 was released. It still looks washed out and overly bright for me too. Many here will agree with you and many will tell you how amazingly great it is for them since SU5 was released, and that anyone who says or thinks differently from them is delusional. I can safely confirm you are not imagining things. It seems worse on standard tvs and monitors and better in HDR. I hope Asobo fix it soon as on my 55 inch 4K screen it looks ridiculously bright and washed out like a cartoon, and no adjustment I have attempted has made it look anything like as good as it used to.
August 14, 20214 yr It is acceptable to me now. I can't actually tell if it is 100% back to original, but it seems much better and close enough for me to be happy. Make sure you have colorgrading = 1 in the user config file, or it can look a bit washed out apparently. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). August 14, 20214 yr For some reason I found everything to be very over exposed (especially clouds) and too saturated since the latest hotfix. Turning 'off' color grading actually helped and the sim looks more natural to me now. I have always used Nvidia settings for my monitor and have brightness turned down to 45% with contrast up to 55%. Gamma is dialed back to .95, Everyone's eyes and monitors are different! August 14, 20214 yr Flying jets results in a blue tinge to ground scenery even when descending closer to ground level. Also the scenery is still washed out from too much bright light - although not as bad as just recently (pre fix 2).. http://youtube.com/c/Greazer

MS said Hotfix 2 fixed lighting and colour, but I can't see a difference from hotfix 1, apart from LOD distance. Hello, I just joined here looking for a fix for this overly bright, cartoon looking problem especially around mid day, I can find no basic adjustments for brightness and contrast in the sim, I tried 2 different monitors (both non-HDR) and they both exhibit this problem. My search has only brought up mentions of the problem but no fixes I may be using inappropriate search terms, any help would be appreciated Burt
October 31, 20232 yr Do you have an Nvidia GPU? If so, you could install GeForce Experience pack alongside the drivers, and then try the filters. They are adjustable live in the game so you can get it exactly to your liking, and they are quick and easy to toggle on and off. There are two other things you could try. If you have an Nvidia, there is 'gamma correction' in the Nvidia control panel, although this would require a restart of the sim after changing. And in the MSFS User Config file, a setting called 'colour correction' - this will also require a restart of the sim if changed. For me the filters were the easiest option, but I don't use them any more as I find I don't need them, or I have gotten used to the way it looks without adjustments. I actually find the colours and brightness quite good on my non-HDR monitor, so it is just down to personal preference sometimes. There is also something called 'reshade', but you will have to follow instructions online as it can be complex to set up depending on your type of installation.
