Best areas for bush flying?

Thanks for the hints

Panama might be getting civilized.  Last night I took a look at El Porvenir and Mamitupo and a couple of those strips.  In MSFS they are paved and about half-way civilized.  Ugh.   They weren't like that 15 years ago.  Maybe the sim is "embellishing" their attributes.  Puerto Obaldia was a grass strip back then.  Not sure about today, or in MSFS.

I'll have to keep looking to find some true bush strips there.

Puerto Obaldia is paved but I had to take off my back to the sea and the tree line is high enough that I found prudent to revisit the short field figures for the Cub !

I did a short but great flight to MPMA Mulatupo, a small island not far from the coast.

The weather was fantastic. MFS at its best.  I had to take off in a nasty rain and very low visibility, fly low following the white sand beach along the jungle but over the  30-odd miles the fog gradually cleared and the rain slowed and stopped and I could land under the sun. That was welcome because the runway is short. A great weather transition.

Wow! That sounds great.  I may have to try that flight soon.  I may need something a bit more STOL than a Piper Arrow.

Another scenic flight would be going from Puerto Obaldia "around the horn" (around the peninsula) over to Colombia.  I think the town is Zappurrizia or something like that.  There is an airfield on the other side of the peninsula but I'm not too familiar with it.  That's drug running territory.

The south / pacific coast of Panama, south of the Darien Gap, is also very remote.  Fly from Jaque and head southeast along the coast.  Mountains to the sea, it impresses me in P3D and I haven't even flown there in MSFS yet, so I may be in for a treat.

Too much glass.

I tend to bush bash in the c140 though it is a wee bit on the gutless side of the power curve especially at altitude.

Perennial debate 😄 ! I was pro-steam not along ago. Not anymore.

The more I watch real bush vids clips, the more I see glass. And that makes sense to me. Bush flying is on average more dangerous than normal flying, and having the situational awareness given by a G3X is terribly useful.  You can concentrate more on what is important.

meh ... I need to see the needle swinging to know what is going on.

Though admittedly back in the day when I use to fly , which was well and truly pre-GPS, we had to make some unscheduled diversion for fuel stops on occasion after getting let us say "navigationally challenged" flying VFR .

Not fun when the only strip you can reach before hitting reserve is a grass one with a locked shed and an hour wait for someone with a key to turn up 😄

Is that an airstrip you found?  Is it selectable from the airport menu?  Or is it a true remote jungle strip?
