V-sync and frame rate limit stopped working.

Featured Replies

V-sync and frame rate limit stopped working today in the MSFS Graphics window. It always worked before.

Frame rates zoom up over 60 with v-sync on or off, and with frames rates locked at 20, 30, or 60. Frame rates just zoom up past all set limits.

My workaround is to use RivaTuner which still does lock the frame rates perfectly.

This keeps my cpu nice and cool using moderate frame rates.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

Strange, the 60 doesn’t mean 60fps though (unless you happen to have a 60hz monitor).

60 means up to full refresh rate of your screen - so in my case 144.

30 = 66% or two thirds

20= 33% or a third

I have mine locked at 20, so 48fps.

you haven’t made any changed in Nvidia control panel have you?

Are you sure?

30FPS = 1/2

20FPS like you say = 1/3

Have you changed your Hz of your screen? from say 60 to 120hz?

Correction you are right, 30 is a half, 72fps in my case 👍

I had to set the NCP to "let the  application control" towards the bottom of the settings page.  Skip

In the past, I never used this feature, but after SU5 I tried to turn it on and found that I couldn't get it working. I ended up using DDU to uninstall my graphics driver and start over. Now it works.

There was a graphics driver update from Nvidia today, but you probably don't have it set to automatic install. Weird that it stopped working.

Yeah, OK, that was my problem.

NCP only showed some, but not all, of the available choices. But using scroll wheel reset the list to show Use Application Settings that had been hidden. Anyway that fixed the issue.

RivaTuner is still cool to set any limit value desired, like when you want to limit cpu  temps by maybe using 25 or 45. RT does not care where NCP or MSFS settings are, it overides them all. And it can show just two digits for an unobtrusive fps display.

Excellent,  maybe they have fixed the render scaling issue
