  1. Thanks jcomm for the details. I will give it a try and report back. Skip
  2. Lost the ability to point to a switch or button with the mouse, say for instance on the TFDI MD 11 alt button or heading button , to get the up and down arrow to appear effectively pulling or pushing that control. Any idea where I need to go to change that setting to get it to function as it should? Skip
  3. I just emptied out my community folder. Obviously something in the current folder is not up to 2024 snuff. Loaded right up.
  4. Hi Pete, I said way back when that I would be following this thread as I have had similar observations with long pauses and was reading all the suggestions and today decided to run the Glowing Heat B-58 at around 1000 feet terrain following up the West coast doing abt 700 knots with Orbx S.C. and Orbx N.C. which is the test I have been using and it was not until I had unchecked Orbx Vector that I finally saw my long pauses just stop happening. OK on the driver issue find. Skip
  5. Pete, I have the same observation as you, so I will be following this thread closely. Skip
  6. I tried to register again and was corrected about password parameters after the fact which led to another banishment to the penalty box for another hour, like all I have is time to fart around for this BS. Please state all the parameters up front and stop harassing the paid customers. Skip
  7. I have run into a similar problem with this forum register and all the hoops that they want you jump through just to prove you are really a customer. It is really a shame that they can get away with treating a paid customer in this manner. Skip
  8. Steve, I have also had flashing smoke from the exhaust on the Glowing Heat B-58 Hustler while doing tower passes at PAJN also. Most notable as the plane flies away from the tower with the sky as background. I 've been going to fast to notice the cabin smoke though. Skip
  9. Same here. I had Fraps working in P3D for one session and now it drops out with drop down menu access. FSX is fine. Skip
  10. To anyone who is interested, I have posted a reworked sound file for the recently released Glowingheat former Alpha Sim B-58 Hustler for FSX. It is mainly a rework of the external flyby and tower view modes. File is available at the SOH Library, FSX sounds. Thanks for reading. Skip
  11. I found the volume problem between views. I had imported other sounds for the J-79s and those were the culprit. Thanks everyone. Skip
  12. Thanks tgibson, But 110 degrees and it is a outside view? Is there a way to sample the sound by view, such as f11 and toggle the "a" key, in FSSS? I still am getting different engine rpm differences between "views" Skip
  13. Just a couple more questions. When I edited a sound config, the finished product now has different rpm speeds between views. Such as, if I adjust the throttle to idle on the fly by view and the sound track follows the throttle to a idle sound, I switch to the spot view immediately and the engines are not idling but are in a higher rpm mode. I then have to readjust the throttle for the new view, advance the throttle and return to idle to match the rpms from the previous view. Hope that makes sense. What might I be doing wrong with this edited version? Also, I know sound cone headings are 0 for front and 180 for rear, what might a setting of 110 accomplish? I see that used? Thanks, Skip
  14. Thanks Vololiberista, Any general rules of thumb when adding sound cones to a config, besides adding cones just to outside sounds and 0 is forward and 180 is to the rear? Distance and volume? Thanks Skip
  15. tgibson, Thanks for replying. I have gone out and have now bought FSSS. But I am finding that FSX runs poorly with this program because of it's age. What are your feelings abt this software in the FSX world? Thanks, Skip
  16. Capt, No problems here with the rudder. I would guess it is something related to your install. Skip
  17. Jesse, Thank you so much for the info you provided. After reading the MS article on sound, I still have questions. I would like to know more abt the sound config files such as when you have a bunch of sound files how do you arrange them to fit the "picture" that you want them to go with? I see that the viewpoint 1 or 2 describes outside and inside views, but how is the so-called "script" written to put the right sounds with the right scene? Maybe you have a link to that info, I hope? Thanks agn, Skip
  18. Hello, I am interested in developing sound files for aircraft and I have no experience with any development tools. What would be a good program to use to educate one's self in this field? Thanks for reading, Skip
  19. I have asked this question on the Opus forum and the TrackIr forum and received their replies to my problem as basically " not their fault" . I would like to know if anyone has had this problem with running TrackIr 5 and Opus weather when starting FSX and then Track IR and the sim loads and upon starting TrackIr usually after starting to taxi, I lose 1 of the green lights on the TrackIR module which means that the Track Ir lost the connection to the sim. I have set up TrackIr according to Opus which is to go into the NaturalPoint install folder and to rename the 2 sim connect entries and start the programs in the correct order and then as I said earlier the TrackIr drops out. If I go back into the Natural Point folder and return the renamed lines to their original text, I can start the sim and then TrackIr, and all is well. But no Opus. Has anyone had this happen? And if so, did you cure this problem? And if you did cure the problem, how? This is getting frustrating. I believe it is an Opus problem, they deny it is. I had Track Ir working perfectly before buying Opus and that's when things went "south" for me. Have tried older drivers and different versions of both products and still cannot get the 2 programs to "coexist". Same scenario with P3D. Any help is appreciated, Skip
  20. Do you have Vector 1.1 installed? If so, open up the Confiquator for Vector and start unticking some of the features, such as traffic, traffic lights, etc. A real performance killer for me in urban areas. Skip
  21. Recently there was a discussion, and I cannot remember where I was reading about it, but I am pretty sure it was on Avsim and it related to DX10- DX-11 graphics processing. The topic was either tessellation or some other newer graphic card technology that was being introduced but the older monitor technology would not be able to take advantage of it. The article in question stated that the new monitors in 2014 would be coming thru with this the ability to take advantage of the newer rendering technology and I failed to book mark this article at the time and now I am trying to find the thread that discussed this feature. As I said at the beginning of this post, the discussion was probably around last Oct. or later and what category it was being hashed over in, I cannot remember. If anyone with a better memory than I recognizes what I am trying to blurt out and remembers the thread, could you please give me a lead on this subject. I would be extremely grateful as I am now in the market for a new monitor and this new feature would be something to take advantage of. Feel free to move this post where ever you think it should be, hopefully not the recycle bin. Thanks for any info, Skip
  22. Hi Opus, I have looked through the forums here and on F1 and did not see this issue raised although I may have overlooked it. My problem occurs in FSX as well as PVD V2 and even 1.4. I start the sim and then Track IR 5 then I start Opus weather. Everything loads and when I start to use TrackIr, usually when I start the taxi, I center TrackIR and then usually a short while later I will lose TrackIR as I notice one of TrackIR 's leds goes dark. I try restarting Track IR to no avail. I have reinstalled TrackIR to no avail. The only way I can keep TrackIR running with the sim is to not start Opus. This is done with reconfiguring the manifests of course. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Skip Ciman
  23. I have already "douched" my hard drive of 1.4 as that was my thought abt the V2 release. I will keep FSX, as it is running well in both DX9 and 10. I did purge X Plane 10 and AeroFly as well. I do not see anything on the horizon for either sims to make me want to stay current with those. I would rather pursue V2 with both time and money and fall back to FSX and all the great addons that I have accrued. As for the 28 year olds, it would be pure folly right now for me and them also. 24. Thanks for a heads up on this Dave. Skip.
