February 7, 201511 yr Does anyone know what, if any, setting will fix the flashing smoke coming from the two log cabins on approach at Juneau? The smoke seems to flash in sync with Orbx's custom approach alignment lights. I don't recall this issue in DX9. Dave Creed

February 7, 201511 yr Commercial Member Also what patch level is the airport and South Alaska region,, what version is orbx libs and where exactly are these shacks! Does it occur if you use the stock Maule for the approach? My FSX Analysis Blog
February 7, 201511 yr Author Orbx lIbs: December, 28th, 2014 Patch 3 for SAK Version 1.1 for PAJN I will try to get picture of the cabins. They are on short final of RWY 8 on left hand side, right about where alignment lights curve to line up straight with the runway. EDIT: they flash with default ultra light, I will try maule. Right off the left wing, here is one with smoke not showing and another with the smoke coming from the two cabins and you can see the approach light flashing off right wing as well. The flashing of smoke is very rapid, which is what makes it so jarring. Dave Creed
February 7, 201511 yr Commercial Member ok I will look see and is PJAN set for DX9 or DX10 in its control panel? My FSX Analysis Blog
February 7, 201511 yr Commercial Member I have flown a few approaches and I am not getting the problem - I can see the smoke ok. I will try a few more tests and come back to you. My FSX Analysis Blog
February 7, 201511 yr May I jump in. I observed the same flashing smoke on the 2 cabins besides the runway. PAJN DX9 ticked, because in PAJN ticked in DX10 mode most of the static aircraft will be gone unfortunately. All DX10 controller settings checked, debug fully ticked. What I observed: Only flashing at dawn, not at day. Flashing can be "intermediatly" solved when AC landing lights switched on. The add. inclusion of PAJN_LightField.BGL does not help. Wulf
February 7, 201511 yr Commercial Member Thanks Wulf that's very helpful and is what I see too. My FSX Analysis Blog
February 7, 201511 yr Commercial Member I will try and make a special light field that's offset to the location of the huts - see if that will fix it. My FSX Analysis Blog
February 8, 201511 yr Commercial Member I am sorry but I haven't found a satisfactory workaround for this. The only solution I can find is to convert particulate effects which may cause performance issues with e.g. contrails and float planes OR to turn on the aircraft landing lights at least with stock aircraft. My FSX Analysis Blog
February 8, 201511 yr Commercial Member It is possible to convert particulate effects and then individually name and exclude effects like spray, steam contrails etc in dx10.ini... But that's clearly quite a lot of effort. My FSX Analysis Blog
