How is it performance-wise say compared to something like the Citation Longitude?

I have the standard edition, so I can't compare to the Longitude, but it's super fluid / smooth in my rig.

Is there a hard core Airbus A340 for MS2020?

Afraid not.

There's soon to be a rather basic (default-type) A340 from LVFR (Latin VFR). That's the only option at this point for a A340.

For the 35 years of my simming hobby I’ve used a yoke very little.

I use the old Logitech 3d pro. It’s got the perfect amount of buttons and hat switch that I map to my views - very important when flying a pattern.

ive had my fling with the PMDG 737 back in the FSX days, but the airbus would be more realistic-ish with a joystick.

I haven't used a yoke, have no plans to ever use one, and would like to keep it simple by simply continuing to use Logitech 3D pro. For this joystick, may I suggest use of FSUIPC?  FSUIPC can double the number of usable buttons on the Logitech 3D Pro.

Back to the topic. If the goal is to just use a joystick which tubeliner would be more suitable:  airbus or boeing? Thank you.

Ooppss.

Anyway addressing everyone else, I'm thinking of trying a tubeliner.  Given that I limit myself to using a joystick only which one should I try: airbus or boeing. Thank you.

I'd say you should try Airbus, because it uses a sidestick rather than a yoke.  (And a sidestick is a posh name for a joystick).

There's a superb free Airbus A320 available, with great realism and systems;-
