I only see the standard World Update (which of course I installed yesterday). What is the exact name of this spike fix? Is it described as such? Or did you perhaps not install the scenery files when you updated and that's what you've found?

I uninstalled and reinstalled the Austria content in the marketplace and that fixed it, finally.

I did not install the scenery files at first, I did not see them. I saw the spikes and realised something was wrong, went into the sims marketplace, looked up the scenery files and found the "Austria, Switzerland and Germany" file downloaded it and the spikes disappeared.

Which is, how surprising, the actual "World Update 6". Always have to download them seperately, wonder if you have all other WU installed or not?

Yes I do have them all installed, I just didnt see that one, but quickly realised my mistake and posted on here because it was obvious other people were making the same mistake.

I asked this question in another topic yesterday.  The question is if each World Update need to be installed to avoid issues or perhaps to get full content in all areas.  For instance, beyond possibly curing an issue like spikes, does each one add additional scenery library objects that might be used again in later World Updates.  Additional hangars, buildings, static objects and the like.

The answer to this should not be a personal opinion such as "I bet so" or "I think so".  Asobo should make a clear statement or provide other guidance about this.  We should know for certain from the source!  Not be chasing our tails.

Update: I have posted a question for Asobo at Flightsimulator.com in the "bugs & issues" "scenery" forum.

With USA World Update the spikes were there, marketplace update or not.

In general I find absurd that the user has to enter the marketplace and "BUY" the free update after the update procedure is apparently concluded. I wonder how many people don't have these scenery updates installed.

Then, why would anybody not want the new enriched and improved scenery? And why is it in the Marketplace with the BUY button, considering that it's free for all users?

Just install all updates, bring it simulates, works updates and smaller general updates.

In that way we will all have the same version which is best for fixing issues and adding new features.

The fact that many do not fly all areas or regions of the world and coincidently want to better manage storage space.  Pretty simple.

I fly USA, parts of Canada, and the Caribbean.  The only World Update I have installed is WU2.  I just checked and the DL size of the other world updates is 32.1 GB, and I believe that is the DL size before decompressing.

The official response I just received in reply from Asobo is that there is no interdependency between the regions.  They can be selectively installed without issue.

Because there are as many opinions as there are users, Microsoft had to find a way to allow those who do not want to clutter up their hard drives to not do so, however odd that might appear to those of us who are delighted to have world updates.
Allowing us to "buy" also introduces the option of not to buy for those to whom the world updates have no attraction.
Let us not forget that  there are parts of the world where the residents consider that theirs is the whole world and have no desire to go anywhere else, even in a flight simulator, even if such "foreign" places do exist.

Ha Ha!  That can hold true within a country as well.  I hail from the USA state of Indiana but lived for 13 years in New Jersey.  Many friends I made in New Jersey had no idea where Indiana is or had interest to go there.  In their minds it was "is that west of the Delaware? (River)"

I only keep World Update 2 continuously installed.  It takes very little time to install another World Update when the occasion presents itself.   I have a flight planned in the British Isles next week and will install World Update 3 before that flight.  Once my flying in that area is done for the time being I will uninstall it.  It along with the other WU's ae in the MSFS Content that is at my fingertips.  It is much like how so many of us use the Addons Linker for MSFS addons.

And by the way, the same can be done with at-cost purchased content.  The Carenado Mooney needs to be made right with an update.  I was aware of that before I went through a purge and reinstall of MSFS after both SU5 and the two sim hotfixes.  I have not installed the Mooney because of the issues that need to be fixed.  It too sits there in my Content or Marketplace to install, without new cost, when I wish.
