September 28, 20214 yr Moderator Hooray! JMS is one of - if not the best - sci fi script writers ever. Years ago back when B5 was in production, I belonged to an internet "Usegroup" dedicated to B5. JMS was a regular contributor to the group and frequently would answer questions from other members. Occasionally he would also bounce proposed plot ideas to the group and solicit opinions! What a hoot that was! I actually didn't know that I get HBO Max "free" as part of my AT&T internet service. I agree! 👍 I was hoping for a continuation of the story with new characters and new plot rather than a reboot but I gather there will be new elements added. And of course with modern special effects it should be spectacular. The primary factor is the writing. You can have the best actors in the world and the best effects but if the writing is garbage you are screwed.
September 29, 20214 yr Really looking forward to the reboot. I attended high school with JMS. I really didn’t know him, (he was a year ahead of me), but we had the same creative writing teacher, Mrs. JoAnn Massey, whom he credited with inspiring him to pursue a career in writing. (He dedicated one of his books to her). I did correspond with him on the B5 Usenet group in the late 90’s and he asked if I knew what had become of her, as he had been trying to track her down for several years. All he knew was that she had relocated to Texas at some point. I don’t know if he ever found her whereabouts.
