MSFS is great for piloting airplanes.. not so much for Planespotting.. at least at present.

Thanks everyone for your inputs!

What is your take on addon airports vs. the default airports? Worth buying and upgrading to 3rd party?

There are many freeware airports available, some of them very good!  Also, if there is a payware version for your favorite airport, you may well want to purchase it as an addon.  Having said that, the default airports are mainly good and usable, as-is..

Example.. I live on Vancouver Island, my home airport is CYCD, and I got the very good freeware CYCD addon.

Also purchased CYVR and KORS... 😉

Before you start installing addons.. get the freeware Addons Linker.  It is essential. 🙂

Transitioning from P3D, you won't believe how idiotic and problem ridden the frequent  and mandatory updating of MSFS actually is. Have a serious temper tantrum before you start. It might help later. 🤔

MS/Asobo seems to share your frustration and taking corrective action, as explained in the latest Q&A..

60 day update cycle vs 30 day cycle

DX12 optional, not mandatory..

They do listen...  😉

60 day updates... hmmmm. A mixed blessing. A long wait for fixes to the guaranteed regressions each updates comes with! 😆

Hi all,

...

2. Is the deluxe premium version worth it if I'm only looking for the tailored made airports (not aircraft)?

...

You already have lots of answers for all of the other questions above....  so I'm not going to repeat them except for #2.

It's your hobby and you've been at it for decades. It's not an impulse buy.

So why not be extra nice to yourself? Unlike a cat, you only live once. Treat yourself to luxury and enjoy the fruits of your labor. USD $60 extra is not that much in the general scheme of things.

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).
