Believe it or not, the title was partly to see how long it would take for you to comment! 😆

Wickes and ECP show a different image to Halfords. Confusing!

Absolutely. If WD40 can't keep their images up to date, it's no wonder the suppliers are making the same mistake!🙄

Shows how confusing this is, because I assumed the left image was the new one and that WD40 were using the grey instead of their trademark blue as a way to differentiate the product and make it look more "pro use" than their basic offerings! Instead, it looks like someone in marketing has decided everything should stick to the corporate image.

Sorry it took so long. I've been busy.

And I do believe it!

Definitely confusing, and time consuming!  😄  I spent almost 2 hours driving from store to store looking for this stuff, and then almost missed seeing it in Walmart because I was looking for a WD-40 can with a yellow top. I didn't come across the "New Look" advertisement that I posted above until some time after I had bought it at Walmart.

To use it I just squirted a little on the top and bottom of the yoke shaft where the shaft enters the case, and then moved the shaft in and out and left and right through its full range of movement a few times.

My only problem now is I no longer have any plausible excuse for poor landings!  😉

I was going to ask how much is needed. I intended to pull the yoke handle body out as far as it would go and then spray the shaft along its entire length top and bottom.

That now sounds excessive. If you pull it back as far as it will go and then release does it now take a few back and forths before it stops?

I would suggest @ark is right with that application. I don't think it's as much a case of lubricating the yoke shaft as it is reducing the friction against the bushing. Therefore, the section of shaft nearest the bushing at rest should transfer enough lube onto it in my opinion. But then I've yet to buy some, so I'm no expert.😉

I would start with just a relatively small amount of the WD-40 spray as I mentioned above. You can always add more.

And yes, now my yoke moves as in the video posted by Chris. And I think @109Sqn above is correct -- the main goal may be to lubricate the bushing in the front of the case that the shaft passes through.

Thanks. Can you now pull the yoke back with just two forefingers?

Yes Ray, just tried that. And in fact, I can move the yoke through its full range with just my index finger.

I'll be interested to hear how this WD-40 Dry PTFE spray works out on your yoke since I believe you have had your yoke about at long as anyone.

I believe I was Chris’s first customer. Hoping to get a text today so I can collect it.

I've collected my WD40 Dry PTFE and applied it to the shaft. Very pleased to report it now moves much more freely.

If I push it all the way forwards and release it moves back then forward then back and then forward before stopping.

Much better than before!
