Pink textures

Featured Replies

Hi! Some - not all - of the liveries are missing, I think. In some cases the whole airplane is pink, sometimes just some parts of it or the interior. Liveries for Longitude are the worst.

This means that some of the textures are missing or incompatible, doesn’t it. It seems to be too difficult to go thru all my liveries. What else can I do? Is there a way to fix this or at least to know which liveries might be the suspicious ones?

Or is the problem with my settings, not with airplanes?

sounds like you are collecting 3rd party liveries. first attempt would be to disable = rename your community folder (unless you use Addon Linker) and then see how the *default* leveries behave. if those are pink then you should bother about your MSFS installation. If they are OK then any of your mods are the culprit. I know that liveries can do funny things, rather CTDs on my end. No choice then to go through your liveries to find the culprit. And ensure that liveries you donwload are compatible with the current SU(6) and also plane you use them for (not all neo liveries are compatible with the FBW, eg)

Just spotted this thread after posting about it elsewhere. I've had the same issue. I know I've seen it happen with a Jet2 livery on 3 aircraft at the same airport. For me, they are pink until you move closer to them, then they appear correctly. The same for the interiors of some GA aircraft. I'll disable all but the Jet2 livery to check if it always happens with that one before trying other disabling options.

Landed at Boston Logan and spotted 3 Jet2 liveried aircraft (yes, wrong side of the Atlantic, I know!) and all were pink until i got close enough:

Get closer, and the livery corrects, but the cockpit is still pink:

Closer still and all is normal (not too obvious at this image size):

This livery is not confirmed as SU6 compatible (but is the most recent version) so maybe that's the issue. Next, I'll disable it and load up any other liveries as yet unconfirmed as compatible.

Update:

I loaded up the sim with several liveries unconfirmed as compatible with SU6 and with confirmed compatible liveries deactivated. Sure enough, most of the liveries were pink. I had fourteen pink aircraft at Logan this time! So it looks like it's simply a case of waiting for them to be updated or simply no longer use those particular liveries.

I am getting pink interiors on aircraft I am modding (DA62) when I zoom out, either in the hanger or out flying. I'm checking whether it is lighting or LOD files for distance viewing when you zoom out a long way or are a long distance away. I suspect it is the latter. Asobo has changed something in many json descriptor files, some of which now contain references to LOD and GLTF files where they did not before the last update.

Happy to hear you're still in the game and still working on the DA62. Your Bonanza mod is rock solid and, as far as I can tell, the only mod unbroken by recent updates.

Solved, and someone else found the solution:

Open the texture.cfg file for each instance of an aircraft livery and make sure the LAST line in the list is this:

fallback.6=..\..\..\..\texture\Planes_Generic

where "6" is the last in the list of other texture entries. So if you have 4 entries it will be:

fallback.5=..\..\..\..\texture\Planes_Generic

Thank you, and to others who have written kind messages. I'm having a decent week so am able to work, and the DA62 is proceeding well, though Asobo seem to have also changed the ambient lighting and I'm investigating why certain likes (wing/tail splashes) are now not working.

It would be helpful if after each update Asobo would kindly list the types of files they have altered. It would save many hours of research and troubleshooting. For example I think where tail numbers are not showing on some aircraft, they have changed the registration entries in the panel config files. The registration line used to have a $ sign before the registration entry.  Asobo seem to have removed the need for that $ which is why tail numbers have not be showing.

Worked for most of the airplanes! Some of them still have the pink parts, but I can live without those.

So, to be clear, if one of the textures has the following texture,cfg entries

Quote

[fltsim]

fallback.1=..\..\Asobo_A320_NEO\TEXTURE
fallback.2=..\..\..\..\texture\DetailMap
fallback.3=..\..\..\..\texture\Glass
fallback.4=..\..\..\..\texture\Interiors
fallback.5=..\..\..\..\texture

I should add

Quote

fallback.6=..\..\..\..\texture\Planes_Generic

to the bottom of the file? It will always be "fallback.X=..\..\..\..\texture\Planes_Generic"  where X is one number higher than the current last line. In other words, it's the fact that there isn't a line ending with "Planes_Generic" which is causing the issue, yes?

OS:     Win11 Home; Mobo: Asus TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4; CPU: Intel i5-12400 (Alder Lake) 4.4 GHz

To partly answer my own question, that has worked with every livery I've tried so far... but I've just found a default Asobo livery which shows up green instead of pink at a distance! It's the Citation CJ4 "Livery 1". That's the "Blurred Reality" metallic one. You'd think default liveries would show up correctly.🙄

And it already has the following texture.cfg

Quote

[fltsim]

fallback.1=..\..\..\..\texture\Lights
fallback.2=..\..\..\..\texture\DetailMap
fallback.3=..\..\..\..\texture\AudioPanel
fallback.4=..\..\..\..\texture\Glass
fallback.5=..\..\..\..\texture\Livery
fallback.6=..\..\Asobo_CJ4\texture
fallback.7=..\..\..\..\texture\Planes_Generic

So the previous solution appears not to work on this one.🤔

OS:     Win11 Home; Mobo: Asus TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4; CPU: Intel i5-12400 (Alder Lake) 4.4 GHz
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 64Gb (4x16GB) 3600 MHz; GPU:  MSI Radeon RX 5700XT [8GB]
SSD:  Corsair Force MP510 (for OS);  2x 1TB & 1x 2TB Sabrent Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 (one for sim, two for addons)
HDD:  Seagate 3TB (Data); Seagate 1TB (Programs), ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ1B Curved 31.5" monitor, 1440p, 38Mbs ethernet
