October 22, 20214 yr Hi guys anyone find they are getting low gpu usage, im only at around 45-60% the whole flight. FBW A320 specs rtx 3080 i7 10700k 16gb ram and gpu set to max performance in NVidia. Many thanks. I7 10700K 16GB 3600MHZ RTX3080FE

Many thanks. always depends on your resolution and graphic settings but it's pretty normal to be at a lower gpu usage as most of MSFS is core bottleneck. https://fsprocedures.com Your home for all flight simulator related checklist.

October 23, 20214 yr GPU usage is way down according to the Game Bar stats for many of my flights. I had been regularly at or near 100% during many flights but I've been as low as 45% a lot of the time since SU6. It can still suddenly spike to 100% in complex areas however. VRAM appears to take less of a hit too. Both of these are welcome changes for me as I'd had a few CTDs which seemed to be linked to the GPU hot spot getting up to or near the maximum. October 23, 20214 yr Low GPU usage is a symptom of main thread bottleneck. It may improve with DX12, if implemented decently. Low GPU usage and low framerate can be mitigated by removing some load from the CPU with traffic sliders, airport aircraft/vehicles/workers density, terrain LOD, glass cockpit refresh rate sliders. 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber

It's the same for me (1080ti and 3600 at 1440p). It's not the fault of the GPU but rather it's how any flight sim works. You could upgrade your CPU and will gain around 5 FPS in heavy situations (like A32X at KFJK), but that's about it. I consider upgrading to a 5600X for that very reason. I am locked to 30 FPS, which means I am almost fine anywhere, but at KJFK or EDDF I drop to around 24 FPS since the last update, and that's rather annoying. Of course I am guilty of setting everything on ultra, but that's just my preference. If you do not upgrade, turning down terrain LOD is basically the only graphics setting that has any major impact on CPU-bound systems. This and any AI or multplayer traffic. For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.
