October 24, 20214 yr If a free DEM is installed in the FS2020 Community, does the simulator landscape show this free DEM or the simulator's own altitude modeling that is effective in that area? For example, if the free DEM in the Community has an accuracy of 10 m and the simulator's own DEM in that area has an accuracy of 5 m, which one appears in the simulator landscape?
October 24, 20214 yr I believe that what's installed in the community folder always prevails. 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
October 24, 20214 yr If it's in the community folder it overwrites the sim setting. The sim doesn't check if what's in the community folder is of a lower quality than the sim setting.
October 25, 20214 yr What would be nice is if asobo could tell us what DEM they were using for different areas. Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)
October 25, 20214 yr Without Asobo's assurance I wouldn't be too sure for in all the previous msfs iterations the rule was: whenever and wherever you install an add-on with a mesh in it, the sim will choose the one that is more detailed. Not being sure how it is now, I'd bet that is still the case.
