November 7, 20214 yr Do check your UK driving licence expiration dates people as many are about to expire in 2022. I had to convert mine anyway, due to moving out of the UK but noticed my old paper licence granted me in the 70's was soon to expire. You don't want to get caught out. https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/dvla-license-change-could-force-22075467
November 7, 20214 yr Every year driving licences expire, as their holders reach the age of 70 and every three years thereafter. I hold a vocational licence which must be renewed every year following a medical. This year, the application was in on 2nd September and there is no sign of the renewal two months later. This is not new or news. In fact, the issuing agency, the DVLA, are in complete disarray and unless the application can be made online, the lead time is measured in months and in fact they give themselves a year to renew a licence. The good news is that if nothing has changed, so long as you have submitted your application, you are entitled to continue to drive until the renewal is issued. Renew your driving licence if you're 70 or over - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) Edited November 7, 20214 yr by Reader
November 7, 20214 yr Author The article says this is relating to the extension that was granted during lockdown. Anyway, insurers are warning people so they clearly think its a potential issue.
November 7, 20214 yr Of course it's an issue if people fail to apply for a renewal, I was just making the point that the DVLA, unless the application is made online, will take months to issue a renewal. It has got to such a point that they are allowing themselves a year to complete what used to be done in a day or two.
November 7, 20214 yr My notice came in the post this year for renewal completed online received new licences within a week in the post. but a lot in the UK don`t bother with driving licences road tax or insurance and it`s a growing problem ask your insurance company they have to include the cost on polices. November 8, 20214 yr In the U.S. television comedy shows spoof about trips to the State licensing offices, how you are sent from window to window to stand in another queue and then go to another desk to get a stamp. I think on average you are in the office about 3 hours. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Aren't the DVLA in disbute with their terms and conditions and their Union Unite is causing alot of their headaches?? A family member of mine just had to go through the pain of renewing and jumping through hoops to get their blue badge for disabled parking renewed. The lead time on that was 3 months.

Same thing here in the States. There are a lot of people driving around with no license, and/or no insurance, and/or no registration, so policies have to include uninsured motorist coverage. These people are not breaking the law, it is an unprecedented situation brought on mostly by the pandemic and the licensing authority has been forced to allow these drivers to carry on driving, even though technically their licences have expired. This has nothing to do with the anti social element who as ever, refuse to conform to rules. Edited November 8, 20214 yr by Reader
