November 27, 20214 yr I know the VNAV works correctly for the Working Title CJ4 but have any of the other aircraft in the sim been updated to reflect proper VNAV functionality? https://www.mediafire.com/view/dz3buh31pti9cej/BoeingDriverSignature.jpg/file
November 27, 20214 yr any aircraft that has a g1000 avioinic as you can replace it with the G1000 Nxi. https://fsprocedures.com Your home for all flight simulator related checklist.
November 27, 20214 yr If you install the Working Title G1000Nxi you'll get mostly working VNAV in any aircraft with a G1000. Well, with the caveat that for this weekend only, that's not the case as the current version of the Nxi released with a bug that breaks VNAV lol... update expected early next week. But generally speaking, the Nxi handles VNAV well. Andrew Crowley

But that’s expected to be fixed soon? https://www.mediafire.com/view/dz3buh31pti9cej/BoeingDriverSignature.jpg/file
November 27, 20214 yr Depending on when you tried it, maybe. The one big missing feature of the Nxi (which should be coming soon) is the ability to select your own altitude constraint at any fix. Right now it's limited to altitudes hardcoded into procedures. Works great (except for this weekend) for flying arrivals and approaches. Andrew Crowley
November 27, 20214 yr Working Title have managed to get a G1000NXi hotfix on the Marketplace today - version 0.9.1 - which is said to fix the issue with RNAV. (Just tested it with a couple of RNAV approaches and they do look to be working OK) Edited November 27, 20214 yr by Matchstick
November 27, 20214 yr Author One more question; Is it necessary to activate the approach for the VNAV to respect crossing restrictions or does it only require setting a lower altitude in the window? https://www.mediafire.com/view/dz3buh31pti9cej/BoeingDriverSignature.jpg/file

Set the lower altitude, and arm VNAV initially. Then arm approach. Arming approach will track the actual RNAV glidepath when it comes alive, usually near the FAP. VNAV is required to make the decent profile prior to the FAP. I find it confusing that VNAV doesn't just track the GP too, and you need approach mode for that, but that is how the real avionics work. November 27, 20214 yr Easy way to think about it. RNAV - Autopilot mode that makes your plane follow your programmed route made up primarily of GPS waypoints. VNAV - autopilot mode that makes your plane follow the altitudes your route requires between waypoints.. It's more complicated than that, but it is a reasonable way to look at it at a high level. And yes, it is the future as it is no longer dependent on ground based stations like VORs and NDBs. From what I have observed today, the VNAV function works quite well, but the APPR mode is not. I tried two approaches in which the VNAV correctly initiated the descent down to about the last fix but the magenta diamond never came down and there was no vertical guidance to the runway (even after selected APPR prior to the FAF). https://www.mediafire.com/view/dz3buh31pti9cej/BoeingDriverSignature.jpg/file

That sounds like the bug that was introduced just last week. Matchstick points out that today's update fixes it, which is nice. I'll have to try it later. Try to update the Nxi and try again.
