Proper way to launch Active Sky w. P3D 5.3 Hf1

Featured Replies

Hello.
Can somebody explain the proper way of launching AS in P3D v5.3 with EA on.

I ask because sometimes there are no clouds at the start of the flight, but METAR says Overcast and I have wait several minutes in order to get cloud depiction

How vital is it to load a flightplan in AS (I usually do it, but unsure of the actual outcome)

Should my flight in P3D already be loaded at the gate and then initiate AS?

I load Active Sky before P3D, doing my flight planning with PFPX etc. and load the flight plan into Active Sky. After that, I start P3D and it works without any issues. If you think weather depiction is not correct, you can click on the "debug" button on the left side in Active Sky and hit the "refresh weather" button, then it should reload everything.

For me, that's not really necessary. AS works without a flight plan, but weather is more accurate if you load it in. The only issues I've got sometimes is that there is rain reported and it's not raining in the sim or vice versa. But nothing critical. I fly exclusively with EA on and volumetric clouds.

ActiveSky is pretty broken right now with the latest beta. If the depiction in the sim doesn't match the METAR, you need to go to the Debug screen and hit Refresh weather.

I submitted a bug report on this a couple days ago to @Damian Clark and I see a couple of other people have as well. Seeing this pretty much at every arrival airport now.

Well....I can't say that's regular occurrence. What bothers me are 2 different views. If METAR is correct and in my case it's more or less correct, I see perfectly what METAR is showing from Cockpit, once outside....LOL....almost bright sunshine, nothing to do with reality...I am a bit puzzled with that so I decided to stay "inside" so I have clear picture.......... 🙂

I don't find that at all. I am sitting at CYVR at the moment. The latest METAR from 20 minutes ago says overcast with light rain from the south east, and that is exactly what I am seeing from the cockpit and outside.

Meaning what? I'm just saying my AS doesn't seem to be "broken" as you assert.

Well, enjoy! I'll continue to submit reports for the bugs that I'm seeing.
