Any disussion of GPU optimization?

Featured Replies

Did Asobo/MS said anything about GPU optimization? My 3090 is going crazy, especially in unnessary situations. It's quite load and more importantly a waste of energy. Is there something they said about planning to optimize it? at least we know they will skip one WU or SU and focus on fixing bugs, but I wonder if they consider GPU optimization into that category.

Have you managed your settings?

I have a 1070 with a few settings on Ultra others on high and anywhere I fly my GPU utilization won't go higher then 90%, with a silky smooth all around experience. In my case, I don't care much about "waste of energy" as long as my GPU is being utilized to fullest capacity thus satisfying my hunger for eye-candy.

Why not saving money end of the month and reducing ecological food print? It's annoying because of the noise. I have everything on Ultra and set frame limited to 60 in sim and nvidea inspector. Doesn't help much. Sometimes it just spoils up over the ocean (1800rps or more) sometimes it doesn't.

A waste of energy. What? 150 watts rather than 120 watts. Yeah we are all going to die because your GPU is using as much as a light bulb!😂

Well If saving money by saving energy is your priority while gaming/simming, then why not just set all your settings to LOW, that itself will reduce the "ecological foot print". You are contradicting yourself with  "I have everything on ultra", your post does not make any sense.

I give you joy and a halo in reducing your energy bill by 50p per year and saving the planet by turning your settings down and thus reducing the power demands on your GPU.😀

Lol, RTX3090 is consuming much more energy. My 3090 is running minimum at 230 watts when msfs is running. We're not going to die, but why wasting 230 watts of energy when you are at the waiting screen?

That's not my priority. If I would have been so radical, I would through it out of the window. My point is, that it seems unnessary in certain situation that my GPU consumes too much power (what produces unnessary noise) wheras it probably could reduce it in certain situation without changing the settings to the lower end.

Hope you got my point now.

OK two light bulbs I concede. What's the big deal?

As I said several times it's getting too load that's annoying. Therefore I am wondering if Asobo is working on something to improve it or not?

It's a legitimate enquiry, if all GPU's have similar issue its wasteful thats all and this may have nothing to do with lowering your settings. Just saying........

It's because MFS renders the hangar scene in the background. Set an FPS limit when in the menus, that will reduce GPU load and heat in that situation.

Has nothing to do with GPU having an issues, but all to do with how you manage settings.

You got 2 options:

1) Set your vsync to 30, this will reduce gpu load.

2) Or manage your gpu fan speeds with a tool like MSI Afterburner.

sometimes I set vsync 20 (48fps for me) which feels much better than 30fps and leaves my system with a lot of headroom
