May 8, 200719 yr I could also imagine someone might have destroyed his default scenery by deletingsceneryWorldinside the FSX folder instead of deletingWorldBut then an FSX reinstall should fix this.
May 8, 200719 yr Is there supposed to be a scenery.cfg that folder? There wasn't one in there before I installed nor after I installed. I copied the one from the main FSX to the app data folder and that didn't work either.Hmm...
May 8, 200719 yr In XP, he scenery.cfg is backed up in Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataMicrosoftFSX called Scenery.CFG.TileProxy.BAK.The main FSX.CFG is backed up in Documents and SettingsUserApplication DataMicrosoftFSX called fsx.CFG.TileProxy.BAK.Note. One is in 'All Users' and the other is in 'User' which is where the relevant cfg files are kept.I think you were a bit cavalier to install TileProxy if you don't know the basic folder layout of FSX.
May 8, 200719 yr Thanks, I synced the default .cfg in the main folder with the one in the all users app data and that worked. And FYI, while you may think I'm dumb for not knowing the "basic folder layout", the layout, to me is illogical and frustrating. But thanks again.
May 8, 200719 yr Glad you got it all back! :-)http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

May 8, 200719 yr I didn't say you were dumb, I said you were cavalier. That means you acted without thinking.

May 9, 200719 yr The same thing happened to me. I unchecked the 'world' in the scenery config, unloaded filter and deleted both those folders, but the graphics were grainy and low rate. It only went back to my old settings when I restored the scenery.cfg and fsx.cfg files that tileproxy had automatically saved and backed up (thank god) in the hidden folders of "application and data" on Xp.

May 9, 200719 yr Well go to find the scenery.cfg in all user app files and then theres a backup there made by tileproxy rename or copy the contents to the scenery .cfg while deleting the rest of scenery.cfg Next time it happens to anyone.Kenneth
May 10, 200719 yr Nahhhh, TileProxy ain't gonna mess up a dang thing in FSX and just to prove a point I spent the evening putting a little something together for myself that works really well now.Essentially - because, like an Almond Joy or Mounds candy bar, "sometimes ya feel like a Nut and sometimes...." I decided to make a little batch file that does the following when run:Copies 1 of 2 possible FSX.CFG files for TileProxy or default scenery,Copies 1 of 2 possible SCENERY.CFG files for TileProxy or default scenery,Copies 1 of 2 possible SCENERYSTATUS.BIN files for TileProxy or default scenery,Renames the FSXWorld folder as either "World" or "World.TP"The 3 file copies plus the folder rename are done on a switch-around-on-each-run basis (using a 0-byte status file marker each time) such that the CFG and BIN files for TileProxy are made default at the same time the "WORLD.TP" folder is renamed "WORLD" or vice versa... I have 3 backup "golden" files (FSX.cfg and scenery.cfg plus SceneryStatus.BIN) that get switched over and the "WORLD" folder is renamed to "WORLD.TP" when it returns the settings to stock default. A folder rename is FAST so this all takes half a sec. Each time the batch file is run it switches between TilePoxy settings or default settings, and reports which setting is activated. The SceneryStatus.BIN file is copied because that's where your little clickmarks are to activate the various scenery areas that TP adds. So, no going into the Scenery Library to click the checkmarks on or off each time I switch around. It's Otter-matical! :)And yup, the scenery.cfg and SceneryStatus.BIN files are in your "All Users" folder (C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataMicrosoftFSX), unlike fsx.cfg which is elsewhere. Go figger! Having the extra "World.TP" as well as the "TileProxy" folder in FSX don't hurt a thing and no reason to really uninstall.Binga Bada Boom.....got a little icon next to my FSX icon that launches the bat file which works like a champ, and now if I wanna go work on repaints or whatever and don't need the longer startup times of TP, I'm good to go....then later, exit FSX, run the script, reload FSX and go for a nice scenic spin around the pea-patch....best o'both worlds now!:)
May 10, 200719 yr Moderator >And yup, the scenery.cfg and SceneryStatus.BIN files are in>your "All Users" folder (C:Documents and SettingsAll>UsersApplication DataMicrosoftFSX), unlike fsx.cfg which is>elsewhere. Go figger! There's a very good reason why this is so... Originally, ACES had the scenery files saved in the same location as the fsx.cfg file... in the "USERS" folder structure......until Holger and a host of other scenery developers pointed out that doing that would be a real problem if more than one user used the same computer to run FSX!!!Let's say Johnny and Fred are brothers and have to share one computer. The both like FSX and both have seperate User Accounts when the log in to WinXP (or Vista). If all the scenery information were stored in Johnny's USER folder, how would Fred use FSX? Ah, FSX would politely build a completely NEW scenery.cfg and SceneryStatus.BIN fild for him!Well, that wouldn't be much of a problem, until Johnny decided delete some scenery he'd added on... Oops! Now Fred's scenery files are hosed up...In short, to eliminate any possible conflicts, ACES moved the scenery files to the ALL USERS folder. Problem solved! ;) Fr.
