Go back to UTLive v1?

For those of you happy with UTL would I be correct in assuming you fly in the US and Europe rarely venturing to the lesser ‘popular’ parts of the world?

If so I can understand your satisfaction. But try repositioning to Mumbai or Johannesburg and see how much coverage there is. And even in the Caribbean do you have all those small airlines flying ATR72s with their very colourful liveries?

It’s those areas where AIG excels as well as many more airlines at the major airports.

Probably true.  I fly U.S. and Europe mostly.  However, I often fly in Asia (Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Viet Nam).  I don't seem to have much difficulty with seeing aircraft in Asia either.  Very remote parts of the world, I admit, are places I rarely fly.

@spilok, Stan, if you’re curious I have the Narita RJAA airport. If you have the 3rd party one tell me how many different airlines you have for a day and local time. Let’s see how close AIG is to UTL.

Sure Ray.

At 2 PM, I set up a flight from RJAA Narita (an airport I've been to in person) with UTL active. I have the DEFAULT airport, and not a 3rd party one.  The airlines I saw there were the following:

  • Japan Airlines (over 15 counted)
  • Air China
  • Phillipines
  • Hainan Airlines
  • Eva Air
  • Etihad Airlines
  • United Airlines
  • China Airlines

I then flew from Narita to Inchon, South Korea.  Had a very turbulent flight most of the way.  However when I landed in Inchon, I took a helicopter around the entire airport to check on all the airlines there.  Here are the airlines I encountered in South Korea (again,a default airport...no 3rd party)

  • Korean Airlines  (many, many of them on Jetways)
  • China Eastern
  • Asiana Airlines
  • Delta Airlines
  • Turkish Airlines
  • KLM
  • Thai Airlines

Conclusion:  I am very satisfied with the airlines I'm seeing at most of the airports I use, and I still believe UTL is a great program for me.

ps.  And I enjoy hamburgers as well as filet mignon.

Stan. That’s an impressive list. If that’s 14:00 local on Sunday (today) I’ll setup P3D tomorrow for that time and report back. What time did you land in Inchon?

Sorry.  Didn't check the time.  But it was at least a 2.5 hour flight.  Also, keep in mind that I set UTL on 60% for airlines and 60% for GA.  I guess there would be more planes if I upped it to 100%.

Hi guys.

Another very happy camper with UTL1 here. The only thing that annoys the hell out of me are the planes popping in at the gates. Was anyone able to solve that ?

thanks

eduardo

Hi Guys,

Another very happy user of UTL1,would never go back to the old days of installing each livery separately, just install UTL and every livery is there.

But those will include defunct airlines. The beauty of the AIG system is it’s modular. Once an airline is no longer operational you just delete the BGL and all associated files are removed.

Hi Ray,

Im sure passing the odd defunct airline is not going to cause a major problem, adds a bit of nostalgia to the sim,but i suppose everyone to there own,its definitely UTL for me.

That’s fine Gary. It’s a purely subjective decision. I’ve retained Flybe for nostalgic reasons. But the pandemic has resulted in a lot of airlines no longer operating.

Also, those still operating have stopped using certain aircraft such as Virgin no longer operate 747s.

Its really great to still see the BA and Virgin 747s parked at the gates at EGLL.
