Hi Stan,

I'm parked at Drzewiecki RJAA at 14:00 local on Sunday 16 Jan. I have 100% Ai and GA selected in P3Dv5.3HF1.

Here are the airlines listed:-

  • Aeromexico
  • Air Busan
  • Air Hongkong
  • Peach
  • Alitalia
  • All Nippon
  • Cargojet
  • Cathay
  • Cebu Pacific
  • China Eastern
  • Etihad
  • Eva Air
  • Express Wing
  • Fedex
  • German Cargo
  • Atlas Air
  • Hongkong Shuttle
  • Jeju Air
  • Korean Air
  • Nippon Cargo
  • Jetstar
  • Philippine Airlines
  • Siberian Airlines
  • United
  • Vietnam Airlines
  • Scat Airlines

A total of 74 Ai on the ground at RJAA with 23 inbound

Over at Inchon (RKSI) at 16:30 local I have the following at the default airport:-

  • Air Hongkong
  • Air Incheon
  • Peach
  • Air Seoul
  • CH Com Airlines
  • Asiana
  • China Eastern
  • China Southern
  • Cool Red
  • Delta
  • EaStar Jet
  • Fedex
  • Jeju Air
  • Jin Air
  • KLM
  • Korean Air
  • Qatari
  • Siberian Airlines
  • T'Way

80 on the ground with 37 inbound.

Wow!  That is indeed very impressive.  Do all those planes affect performance?  Can you run P3d without AIG being triggered?  That's probably the only way to check.

That can be done easily by disabling the AIG traffic manager. In my experience AIG ai traffic performs very well, but of course, it costs frames, especially on the big airports.

Hi,

I hate those UTLive Daleus liveries appearing everywhere in v2, any easy way to get rid of them?

Does anybody have an answer - YES or NO

Hi Stan, not much impact until you go to 100+ as they’re optimised for 64-bit. You can control numbers via Ai Companion - a free program to show Ai in the sim.

Yes, disable the AIG addon in the add-on.cfg.

I’ll leave it at that as it’s off topic. If you want to discuss further raise a new topic.

There is a simple tool called Ai2Utl that configures UTL to work with FLAI models. If you get the PBR version of FLAI it looks great IMO.

Thanks went to FLAI site and seems like the site is down and they no longer offer it

Yes, there was some issue with copyright that meant FLAI models were not allowed to be distributed by BVARTCC. If you hunt around a bit you may be able to find a copy. Quite a lot of P3D users are still using FLAI (myself included) as the installation process is so straightforward.

P.S you want v25 PBR update of the models.

UTL v2 has a bug where it will restore your custom assigned liveries back to default. You could also just remove the Dadalous liveries but then you are stuck with the old UTL liveries and models.

Your best bet if you insist on using UTL is to use v1 and to use AIG's AI Manager to get the models and liveries and then assign them to UTL. Simply try it with British Airways for instance, replacing the 767's and 744's with 787's and A350's etc not to mention the A320's with winglets and Neos etc. Then, you can also install FedEx, UPS, EAT Leipzig, ASL and all of the other cargo operators that aren't included in UTL. Do yourself a favor and just try it.

Going against the grain here, and although the consensus on this forum is AIG, I still use and ENJOY UT LIVE. I saved the addon XML from P3dv4.5, and that's all that's required for it to run in P3d v5.  I get great population of aircraft all over the world and see significant numbers flying (and labeled) during my flights. I did try AIG once, many months ago, but found it cumbersome to set up and not living up to its promotional hype (even though its free) of being the "one click" program.  Perhaps one day I'll give AIG a try again, but really my goal in the sim was to be able to see planes at airports and in the sky.  UT LIVE does that, and I can increase the % of GA and Airline Density.  I have mine set to 60% for each and I really don't notice any performance impact in the sim.  I see the actual real liveries and not generic no names.

So, for now, I'm content with the AI traffic I'm getting with UT LIVE.

Fully agree Stan my view on this matter exactly!

I’m going to give AIG a shot, have been using UTL. My question is do you bulk install all the possible airlines, or pick and choose? I figured bull install all would be simplest unless it takes up a ton of storage.

Pick the airlines that visit your favourite/frequently-used airports, e.g. if Indianapolis is yours, choose AAL, DAL, SWA, and UAL.
Build-up your library of airlines no more than 5-10 at a time. It's a nice balance of increasing the number without taking too much out of your allocated flight simming time. Before long, you'll have a list that is much larger, more diverse and more up-to-date than UTL could ever deliver.
One tip: add a couple of general aviation packs in each time to give your skies and airfields some more variety.

As for people returning to UTL, that's the great thing with having a choice. What works for you, works for you!

If you’re going to bulk install it will take many hours to complete. Probably best to do it in sections over the course of several days or a week. If you do bulk install, CTRL-A is your friend (select all), otherwise lots of clicking involved! 😎

You can delete Daedalus aircraft from the apt but it is a very long procedure because you have to open each aircraft.cfg of all aircraft in the utlive2 Aircraft folder and check
the presence of the [fltsim.X] of Daedalus which is usually [fltsim.0] then delete it but then starting from [fltsim.1] it is necessary to change it to [fltsim.0] and the following ones the 2 in 1 the 3 in 2 and so until the last [fltsim.xx].

Installing all AIG models will take less time 😅
