Yakutat to Petersburg

ORBX Alaska mesh

This nicely polished PMDG DC-6B wears the markings of her Northern cousin, the last Canadair C-5 North Star "CHARLIE FIVE". C5 was the only pressurized aircraft in the Canadair fleet of North Stars of the DC-4M/Argonaut/C-54GM/C-4 variants. It was also the last produced, and only C-5 variant of the North Star fitted with PW R-2800 Double Wasp radial engines. To the members of 412 Squadron, the aircraft was known as “Charlie Five”. During much of its fifteen-year career with 412 Squadron, based at RCAF Station Uplands Ontario, this reliable queen of the executive aircraft fleet carried delegates for VIP Transport Services. Most of the political leaders of the Western world were carried by the prestigious airliner. Some of the names recorded on C5's manifest included, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and H.R.H. the Duke of Edinburgh in 1951, Sir Winston Churchill, Sir Anthony Eden, Emperor Haile Selassie, the Netherlands Royal Family, Minister C. D. Howe, and all the Prime Ministers of Canada from 1950-65. Following its official retirement from RCAF service on 28 April 1966, this once stately VIP-class airliner was sold and unceremoniously scrapped in the United States. What a pity.

A much less famous (and much less lavishly equipped) North Star is now with the Canada Aviation and Space Museum in Rockcliffe, Ontario and parked in their reserve hangar, while undergoing restoration.

Luckily, in MSFS Charlie 5 is still in her prime!

Great view of the "beach" at Yakutat. But I doubt the water ever gets warmer enough to enjoy.

Seriously, though, your whole series really brings out the best of what MSFS can do.
