Request : Post sp1 basic ai traffic replacement pack

Featured Replies

Not sure of this but I expect that the stock AI traffic hit on FPS will not be solved by SP1. Could one of our traffic pros come up with a basic AI traffic replacement pack ?No need for hardcore ultra realistic up-to-date flightplans or liveries. Just some good-looking low FPS-impact AI aircraft to fill our skies and airports.I expect that quite a few of us simmers would love such a package. Please post your opinion in this thread whether you agree or not.Jean-Paul(eager to put back FSX back on my system) Asus P5W DH Deluxe - Core 2 Duo E6600@3Ghz - Leadtek 7950 GT TDH 512 - 4 x 1GB Kingmax DDR2 667 CL5 RAM - 2 x 250GB Hitachi T7K250 SATA2 AHCI - Creative Audigy 2 Value - Antec Sonata 2 Case - 450W Antec SmartPower 2.0 PSU - Samsung SyncMaster 204B 20" - Windows XP Pro SP2 - TrackIR 4 Pro - Saitek X52

I'm sure I read that SP1 does solve some of the default AI aircraft fps hits.

Well, models notwithstanding, more AI = less fps and unless something major has happened I do not expect that to change in the near future. However, if SP1 does the fps improvements it's slated to do, then we will all have more headroom for more AI. That's great!I think you should check out ProjectAI and World of AI if you want good looking low fps impact AI in your sim.I'd suggest you disable the stocker AI traffic file by renaming it to trafficAircraft.bgl.stock. And then do WoAI and PAI.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2310 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 2.5-3-3-8 (1T), WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian case

Rhett,I agree that Project AI and WoAI 's offers are great but these are per airline implying that in order to cover a geographical area, you will have to download a huge amount of packages. How about an all-in-one freeware low fps package equivalent to what FSX offers us now ?Jean-Paul Asus P5W DH Deluxe - Core 2 Duo E6600@3Ghz - Leadtek 7950 GT TDH 512 - 4 x 1GB Kingmax DDR2 667 CL5 RAM - 2 x 250GB Hitachi T7K250 SATA2 AHCI - Creative Audigy 2 Value - Antec Sonata 2 Case - 450W Antec SmartPower 2.0 PSU - Samsung SyncMaster 204B 20" - Windows XP Pro SP2 - TrackIR 4 Pro - Saitek X52

Hi Jean-Paul,I use WOAI and AIA aircraft but do not use any of their flightplans. I just run the AI aircraft through the Traffic Data Base Builder and produce my own FSX traffic file. I have replaced the stock traffic file with my own. Whilst it does not give any representation of true traffic it does enable some good looking real world colour schemes for both Commercial and Private aircraft around the FSX airports world. John

Their models are not as efficient as the others mentioned. I use a combination of WOAI flightplans and aircraft, with some Ultimate Traffic flightplans, linked to WOAI, AIAardvark, EvolveAI, and FSP aircraft. (No ProjectAI)

Thanks

I use WOAI and find that it solves most of my needs. I use some of the Project AI planes for airlines missing in WOAI, but I may consider swapping out some of their models.

>>How about an all-in-one freeware low fps package equivalent to>what FSX offers us now ?>It would surprise me to see that. The amount of work involved to make a world-wide sized traffic file is tremendous. That's why all the free offerings are airline-at-a-time.I just make my own AI files for FSX, since neither PAI or WoAI make their .bgl's to FSX specs. I have made about 20 airlines so far.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2310 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 2.5-3-3-8 (1T), WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian case
