Surely everyone on the broader dev team would realise that something is badly broken with the weather system. The global weather system which they implemented was superb. They really should restore it to what it was before. I'm not a fan of the METAR based system any longer I was one who really advocated to move to metar wx, but I have to admit that it hasn't improved the sim. What's sad is for about 3 weeks preceding the update, the metars in the old system had become pretty accurate and reliable without sacrificing any immersion. But, we all seem to assume any degradation is a result of the weather system and not a depiction problem of some sort. Remember, Asobo seems hyper focused on memory footprint since the xbox rollout and I theorize much of what has changed is more the result of revised rendering (not as many layers and clouds that are easier on memory) than the actual weather system itself. Just a thought. Regards, Kendall 7800X3D/G.B. Aorus 650 Elite V2.0/32GB GSkill Trident 6000-CL30/Nvidia 1080 Ti./Seasonic Focus 1200W PSU.

Can YOU fly into a live weather cloud and see ONLY cloud all around you? Darn near impossible... at least for me. I've tried it! Makes me think of FSX/P3D 2D sprites! Huh? Whenever I do a flight on vatsim, I always seek the lowest real-world weather I can find. I'm routinely fully IMC for 15 minutes at a time. I don't understand what you're trying to say? February 10, 20224 yr I was flying with REX in AUS recently and was in and out of thunderstorm doing touch and goes. It was one of the most immersive situations thus far for me in MSFS. It was amazing complete IMC. Chris Chiozza
February 11, 20224 yr Was there ever an explanation for the need to change the colour palette? It's no longer possible to get photo-realistic clouds in the sim, looks more like an oil painting now.

I agree I no longer have the IMC conditions I had before. We're just going through the cloud quickly. There is more turbulence. There's no real overcast either now... I believe that for the overcast it will be corrected on the SU8. Edited February 11, 20224 yr by Axis3600 EDIT

I'm often in solid IMC conditions in the sim. I really cannot understand some of the claims about weather in the sim these days. I was told on the official forum that I'd be unable to find a true overcast... strangely there was no response after I posted screenshots of true overcast in the first place I checked. It's like we aren't even using the same software. For me, the new weather is great and fixes the earlier problem of the Meteoblue weather at an airport often being significantly different than reality, making real-world data and flight planning unusable with the sim. What we have now is far more accurate. Andrew Crowley

I think it had to do with performance and the port over to XBOX that really changed a lot of things for worst. To me, it's still usable and enjoy the sim, but I definitely miss the look of the earlier days.
