Explore the RMS Titanic in unprecedented detail!

Featured Replies

A group of enthusiasts is working on recreating the RMS Titanic in virtual form. So far they completed 30% of the Titanic and have released it as a free demo:

The visuals are simply breathtaking and it is a lot of fun to explore the ship. Even after a few hours you still discover new areas. I'm really looking forward to the complete model.

Hi Tim ! Who would've thought we'd meet again on the Titanic ! 😎

Great find, matey, thanks for the tip ! Looks totally amazing indeed ! Although i am fairly used to these gorgeous graphics by now after exploring Assassin's Creed Odyssey Discovery Tour that has you walking, horseback riding, sailing or even soar with the eagles thru Ancient Greece and Ancient Egypt with all the bad guys removed. I had never seen such realistic extremely detailed beauty in high resolution glory before. On top of that also historically correct for the most part. Reminds me a lot about that when i stepped on board the Titanic. Wow!! Absolutely breathtaking !

While the internal of the ship looks truly bewildering of course my biggest interest would go to the external model of the ship. And to see it sailing by in all kinds of weather. And watch it sail from the wheelhouse and take a look in engine room of course. 😉

Not sure yet if going as far as having the ship hit the iceberg and actually sink is such a good idea... I suppose it might be because they want to make a game out of it but i do have a bit of doubt about its ethical responsebillity.

Nevertheless, very much looking forward to the final version, Tim.    Givin the fact they started the project about 5 years ago it may still take a while..

Thanks again! 🙂.

Jan

Trying to view this. I downloaded the game, and it opens. I do not have an x box controller. I have yoke, throttle quadrant and rudder pedals, and a mouse. The only thing that works is the mouse. I clicked on Day, then on First Class. With the mouse I can look around, up, and down, and the mouse wheel zooms in and out, but I can't get out of the opening view in First Class. Can't make the door handle work. Do I need an x box controller to view this?

Thanks

Hi Jan,

nice to talk with you again! It's been a while. I guess the last time we met on the C-47 so to speak 😃

I wasn't aware of the Assassin's Creed Discovery Tour series. It looks indeed spectacular as well. I like the idea of giving the user a way to explore the beautiful virtual world without all the fighting.

The sinking mode sounds indeed a bit macabre. Apparently they think that the game will sell better with such a feature. But I don't need it either. However, the final version will certainly be spectacular. Even if we have to wait a bit for it.

Greetings
Tim

You can move around with the W/A/S/D keys. Opening the doors works with the F key.

Thanks, Tim. Got it going now.

I'll be very interested  in the boiler rooms and engine rooms if and when they are created.

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

One of the six boiler rooms is already modeled in the demo.

I've been following this following this project since 2015. I was one of the original backers on Indiegogo. They are aiming to model everything, even down to working light switches. The original plan also included a period correct scale model of the docks in Southampton, but I think they've scaled down a little now to just doing the ship itself. I believe there is also going to be a campaign that takes place onboard during the maiden voyage with certain things you have to do before the inevitable.
