Totally frustrated

Featured Replies

Hi All, I've been flight simming for ever. I am fully conversant with FS2004, FSX, and Xplane 11. When MSFS2020 became available, I was straight in because the views etc looked great, but I find it the most frustrating of all the flight sims. I can't control any aircraft with my stick (Black Widow). If I initiate a turn, it will start and then lurch completely over out of control. I have adjusted all the sensitivities but makes no difference. Also, I can't get my "Pause/Break" button on my PC to have any effect, so no Active pause. So rather than spend even more hours on trying figure out the basics, I revert to the other sims. If anybody out there has experienced similar but has solved it, I would sure like to hear from you. Regards

Have you checked to see if you are getting any clashes or spikes with MSFS running, because it does sound like that might be the case. With regard to Pause Break, same deal, or possibly re-assign that key to some other key.

Never heard of this controller but a quick search on the official forum gave me that. I am sure there are some more.

Simming since 1981 -  [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam

IMO the controller settings interface issn't the best of the features in MFS. It takes some time to get going with it, and to custmize profiles for different aircraft / types of aircraft, but it camn be done.

There are a few tutorial worth the watch in youtube. This is just one among many, and while possibly outdated it can provide some insight into the process of configuring even the "Black Widow". Give it a look if you find the time:

Flying gliders since 1980

Flightsimming since 1992

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

Yea, it does sound like some sort of conflict where either you have multiple commands bound to the same buttons, or as Chock pointed out, it may be spikes. If you are experienced in XP11 then the MSFS control menu's should be second hand for you...just spend some time with it as has already been suggested here. Sounds like you've been avoiding from learning the new sim...perhaps you have been short on time or patience. Try to put in the time needed for you to get comfy and learn all about it and you will figure out what's been happening, I'm sure.

There's no way to avoid putting in the time at some point, or else you'll just keep running back to the old sims. If you need some help feel free contacting me with a private message here at avsim and we can get on voice.

Sound advice delivered in a measured, understanding tone.

And...... with much vitriol permeating sim forums these days, it's very refreshing to see a community member not only reach out to assist someone here, but also willing to dig deeper and offer to do so offline.

Kudos - Good on you Dave.

OP, I hope you get your problems solved soon so you can enjoy the sim.  Wish I could help.

A long shot: Have you turned the 'assistant' off? It was reset for me after a MSFS update and I experienced weird behavior.

Also try to switch flight model from 'legacy' to 'modern'....  Good luck.....
