Nope stuck with the GTX 1800 ti (which is a good card to still be stuck with)

So are you happy with you CPU/Board/RAM upgrade?

Every time I read a thread about upgrading a CPU and the challenges, I cringe, and want to stay right where I am. 😀

Hehe I definitely did have to overcome some installation challenges with Windows and the sim as you read.  I spent about 2200 USD (so far lol....a video card will definitely bring that near the 3k range if I can ever find one for MSRP).  Keep in mind though that it was an entirely new build with new SSDs, new case, Windows 11 etc.  If you just do the cpu/mobo/ram I think you get could away with my same system for about a thousand bucks.  You could even go ddr4 and save a bit too.  I'm not sure if this faster ddr5 ram is doing anything but I didn't want "old" ddr4 for a brand new build.

DDR5 means "next to nothing in MSFS" according to Hardware Unboxed tests, zero benefit at 4K, less the higher the resolution. investing in better GPUs means most bang for the buck, which is consistent with what Asobo has been saying since day 1:

Haven't tried yet but taxiing would be smoother than flying at 250 kts , LOD 400, high glass refresh rate in NYC heh.  The screenshot flight was pretty smooth...a few minor stutters here and there.

Glad its working for you Ryan.

Dropping the LOD down to say 200-250 will help smooth it out a lot. 400 is very demanding.

Ryan,

When you reinstalled, please tell me that you located it to a non-stock locations (ex:  c:\games\msfs) and not at the default location.

That along with Addon Linker will save you more trouble and headaches in the future.

Yep...of course.  I had it installed in Windows 10 on a separate drive than windows...and use addon linker as well.
