March 5, 20224 yr New PC New I9-12900KF + 3080 + Gsync monitor 165.144,120,and 60 Hrz. I know there are ton of post here discussing what to use for settings but I cant seem to figure it out. Some say MSFS vsync off, others on, use frame rate limiter in NVDA panel. If I turn on vsync in MSFS to 30 frame rates are up to 50? It will hold 60 in some areas but not always. On the FBW 320 there is a hard RED line every once in while when DEV mode on. Does not do it on other aircraft. Does anyone know what this is or how to fix? Any ideas? Chris Chiozza

Take your average frames, say 50? Lock frame rate to 50 using RTSS. PS, this is assuming you have a hardware based G-Sync monitor and not a compatible one.
March 5, 20224 yr Author One other thing, why not use nvda to lock frames instead of RTSS? Chris Chiozza
March 5, 20224 yr 39 minutes ago, cchiozza said: One other thing, why not use nvda to lock frames instead of RTSS? Because RTSS provides better frame pacing. RTSS is a CPU-level FPS limiter, and introduces up to 1 frame of delay, whereas Nvidia Inspector uses a driver-level FPS limiter, which introduces 2 or more frames of delay.
March 5, 20224 yr What's the clockspeed on your CPU? Try these two options and see which one YOU find better: No vsync, rely on gsync, and enjoy. Vsync on in MSFS, set your monitor refresh to 120Hz and use the 20 divisor in MSFS, and you will have vsync locked to a frame rate of 40 which is doable most everywhere at very high settings in MSFS. If you ever see performance stammer/stutter w/ frames dipping below 40, your settings need turned down. Any ideas? if you are setting VSYNC on in MSFS, 30 does not mean 30fps, it means half your monitor refresh rate. 60=monitor refresh rate 30=half monitor refresh rate 20=a third of monitor refresh rate. Two ways to go 1 - set VSYNC and GSYNC to ON in NVCP see here G-SYNC 101 2 - set V-SYNC on in MSFS (which turns off G-SYNC) and set the number to match what your computer is capable of. For your system, a monitor refresh rate of 120Hz, V-SYNC on and set to 20 will give you a very smooth 40fps. March 5, 20224 yr Ah ok, so it's a G-SYNC Compatible monitor. Below 60fps the G Sync is effectively not doing anything. i7-13700KF, 32gb DDR4 3200, RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024
