CJ4 not working/white screens

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I wanted to use the Working Title CJ4 today but had white screens and/no FMS clickspots and just a real mess. I decided to remove it and all other addons in my community folder to check for conflicts, but weirdly the default MSFS CJ4 isnt working either with nothing in my community folder and has exactly the same problem - what is going on do you think? it’s the latest version of MSFS and the Carenado Seneca’s working fine in it.

Cheers,

John.

I believe the WT is on version 12.12. Have you updated?

Maybe try deleting then reinstalling the default CJ4 in the sim?

I once had issues with one of the other MSFS planes and this worked for me.

QUOTE from the WT #discussion  Discord BOT >>> there are only ever three possible causes for white screens, which happens if an old panel.cfg or cockpit model is around - Make sure CJ4 is at least on version 12.9 and you updated it by removing the old one first - Make sure you don't use an old livery that fully overrides panel.cfg (which only old obscure ones would still do) - Update the CJ4 Cockpit Texture mod if you are using that.

There must be something of that nature going on, but I have just reinstalled both the default CJ4 and the workingtitle one and still getting the same problem. I don’t think I’m using the cockpit texture mod.

Guy on Msfs2020 forum had same issue. He resolved it by removing an old livery from the community folder.

This is usually caused by an incompatible livery.

I suspect it may be the default Asobo CJ4 livery, but have no idea how to remove that. If it’s not that, it can’t be anything else.

I have the default CJ4 and all default CJ4 liveries installed and no issues with the WT CJ4.  Somewhere (possibly disguised) in your Community folder is a CJ4 livery or an old CJ4 textures folder causing your issue.  Try downloading the latest version of WT's CJ4, install it  to your Community folder with NOTHING else in it and try again.

Completely at a loss. Even with the WT mod and everything else removed from the community folder entirely, the default CJ4 is giving me white screens. Even when I uninstall it in the content manager and reinstall it. There’s obviously a conflict, but am at a loss to see what it is - it looks like I just can’t have the CJ4 in the sim and I’m stuck with flying around in the Seneca for now.

Where do you have MSFS installed? If you are using a custom install (ie: E:\MSFS for example) then try looking in these locations for a Community folder to see is a CJ4 livery is hiding there.

For the Windows Store install:

C:\Users\[Your User Name]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\

For the Steam install:

C:\Users\[Your User Name]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightDashboard_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\

Important: Windows 10 by default hides the “AppData” folder, so you will have to go to “View” in the menu of File Explorer, and select “Hidden items” so as to see it.

It is a custom install Jay but I have tried the other folder, which does exist, and there’s nothing in there. It is a complete mystery I have no idea what is going on. Thank you for those locations though thaat’s really useful.

Chaps I’ve solved it - somehow a previous WT folder had found its way into the Official folder. How that happened I do not know, but I spotted it just using the old fashioned Windows Search. Thank you for your help folks.
