Terrible Framerates with High'ish Spec

Featured Replies

Nope, never overclocked :(

>Hi>>I got the deluxe version of FSX this morning and I installed>it along with the SP1 patch. 9-11 FPS in a default airliner at a large airport? Wow, how will we ever see useful heavy jet add-ons for FSX. My goodness....http://www.my-buddy-icon.com/Icons/objects/red_3d_plane.gifAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD

Defragging doesn't normally increase frame rate, it just decreases load times...Also, I don't believe water set at low 2.x is a dual pass....I believe medium 2.x and above is though, along with bloom etc etc.I really have no frame rate change from high 1.x to low 2.x

Recommend Flightsim be in its own partition or even better, its own drive, and use disktrix to compact by file/directory name. You will see a difference.>Also, I don't believe water set at low 2.x is a dual pass....I>believe medium 2.x and above is though, along with bloom etc>etc.Water anything in the 2x range requrires a second rendering pass.>I really have no frame rate change from high 1.x to low 2.xWere you flying around water-bodies and a descent size airport such as MIA or SFO?

I defrag my computer every couple of days, so it can't be that either unfortunately.

Hi Tom,have you tried disabling your antivirus software while running FSX?Paul

Paul Egan

I don't have any :) I've tried disabling pretty much everything to be honest! It's fine outside of citys and stuff so I'll just have to stick with flying around the countryside ;)

Ouch. I am getting as many frames as you did.A few things I installed that you probably haven't.1). TreeX2). WoAII think they are faster than the default ones.EDIT: All sliders to the right except bloom off, water 2x low, Airline traffics at 85%, airport vehicle traffic high, and all other traffics are at 30%.P.S. This is RTM version, not SP1

I noticed you have Antialiasing turned on in FSX. That's bad! Turn that off and adjust AA settings in your display drivers control panel.Should give you a whole lot more FPS.

No difference to the FPS at all :(

No actually I have found exactly opposite....I set forceware to application controlled, enable it in FSX, NOT in the hardware...It's opposite for FS9 though lol!

Well how come I don't see much of a hit from 1x high to 2x low? I see a huge hit from 2x low to 2x medium thoughonce again, user experience I guess, defragging my HDD didn't increase performance (in FPS) in FSX, pre or post SP1....

Yeah that's pretty much what I have to do....I think you're expecting too much though, there's so many combos of settings possible. At the large airports, ORD, JFK, DFW, ATL, LFPG, EGLL, etc etc you're gonna get the low FPS....it's always been that way.oh btw, my screenie above was KORD, not KMSP like Bobprey had....there i usually get 15 unlimited or 11-12 if locked.
