May 20, 200719 yr Before SP1, I often liked to use the 2D-Panel view and then hit 'W' twice so all you could see was the outside world (The "Scenery Gourmet View"). It was then possible, using the collie hat thing on the joystick, to look in other directions, unobstructed (!), except that when looking back the navigation light could be seen. Now, after SP1, we have the canned pseudo-VC views in our way, except to the front, which is now a big exception. Is there anything that can be done to get the old scheme back (unobstructed views in every direction) ?I did read a few posts who reported the same or a similar issue but haven't seen a solution to this yet.Cheers,Siggy Siggy Schwarz
May 20, 200719 yr I have the same problem I thought maybe it was just me. Hope somone comes up with a fix!:-beerchug keith
May 20, 200719 yr Just go to this site.....http://www.wideview.it/fsx_sp1.htm .....and use Method 1.Cap'n Tarmack>I have the same problem I thought maybe it was just me. Hope>somone comes up with a fix!:-beerchug > keith
May 20, 200719 yr Moderator Granted, we can't do that specific thing any longer......but, with the infinite possibilities that the new camera system provides, we can find solutions. For example, have you ever changed to the RightWing, LeftWing, Tail views?Press the S key to cycle to the "Aircraft Views," then press the A key to switch to the Tail Cam view.Press and hold Shift+Backspace key to "lower the camera" until it's just below the a/c (wheels might still be visible at the top). Now you can use the "hat switch" to smoothly pan around with an unobstructed view (except overhead of course). You can even set up your OWN custom camera(s) for each a/c if you like, or simply add your custom camera to the cameras.cfg file so they'll be available for ALL aircraft.Don't get so hung up on the "past" that you miss out on all the exciting possibilities for the future!!! ;) Fr. May 20, 200719 yr Author Bill,I'm sure we'll find ways around it, but it was working just fine before SP1, so why change it now?It looks like a bug to me, plain and simple.. Bert
May 21, 200719 yr It was probably my own fault :-). I complained (via tell_fs@ms) that when you look backwards you can still see the white nav light and they probably solved the problem this way. Tells me not to complain about minor issues again, you may lose more than you gain.Cheers,Siggy Siggy Schwarz

What we see now is the result... :-lol Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
May 21, 200719 yr Don't know if this is what you mean but try this! It will give you a view similar to 2d view but without the panel (To use panel Shift_x where x = panel position for aircraft used) and without the side VC like in 2D mode. If you want to move around like in the VC just change the snap and pan adjust setting to Swivel, and the snap and pan return settings to False.[CameraDefinition.XXX] (Next available Camera Config entry #)Title = Gourmet viewGuid = {B1386D92-4782-4682-A137-738E25D1BAB6}Description = This is the description of the cockpit viewOrigin = PilotShowPanel = NoSnapPbhAdjust = OrdinalSnapPbhReturn = TRUEPanPbhAdjust = OrdinalPanPbhReturn = TRUETrack = NoneShowAxis = FrontOnlyAllowZoom = TRUEInitialZoom = 1.0SmoothZoomTime = 2.0ShowWeather = YesXyzAdjust = TRUEShowLensFlare=FALSEPitchPanRate=30HeadingPanRate=75PanAcceleratorTime=0Category = CockpitHotKeySelect=2 Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
May 21, 200719 yr Author This begins to look like a solution, although there are still remnants of the aircraft showing (see attached screen shot) and I can only access this view from the views menu (no hotkey combination seems to work..)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/172106.jpg Bert
