Saying Goodbye

The time has come, the Walrus said, to talk of many things: Of shoes — and ships — and sealing-wax — Of cabbages — and kings — And why the sea is boiling hot — And whether pigs have wings.  And of goodbyes.

I've been on a two week vacation.  I didn't go anywhere but the weather has been nice here, although a bit windy.
I got the walker out of the garage and took some walks in the park.

After 11 years, 3290 posts (and 2691 likes) it's time to bow out.  It's time to say goodbye.

I've made some friends here, and many acquaintances. I may have riled some of you and if I have I'm sorry for that.

Dugald, Doug, Charlie, Matthew, Fielder, Dave, Rob and the rest of you.  It's been fun.  And Martin, my favorite Gurnsey Islander, arguing with you was a hoot.

And Fr Bill, thanks for clearing up that theological point I had in our PM exchange.

I'll be lurking around from time to time just to see what you guys are talking about But I won't be joining in.

Sad to hear Noel. Miss the bird stories. But all the Best to you in any case. Be well my Friend. k

I definitely enjoyed reading your accounts of "old" San Francisco. But old is such a relative term. This footage would have most likely seemed old to you when you were a kid. Me listening to M. Dung on the way to school in the mornings and playing video arcade games in the afternoons would seem just as old to any kid today.

But not just the SF connection. I'll miss a certain vibe I get from some of your posts that give a straightforward, not circumspect, but also very friendly and great to read way of expressing views, that I really appreciate.

Go with God, Noel!

Thank you so much for this video. It's just fantastic. I first visited The City 70 years ago and lived there for a while in my younger days. Later on in life I worked there for 15 years. The City has grown on me. I think it's the best city in the world (and I've seen quite a few).....Doug

I've watched a few similar videos these past few days, also Paris in the 1920's. Pretty amazing, a hint of time travel. For me San Francisco, the size, the location, its layout, I also think it's the best.

I just looked at that video.  Remarkable.  I did a bit of research on it.  It was taken on April 14th of 1906, just 4 days before the earthquake.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.
