I could actually see a May release, remembering that that this is "Early Access but you can't call it that". RSR's comments on release date aren't entirely without predictive value, and his wishful thinking about this weekend suggests to me that we could see it in the next couple of weeks if they get lucky with the crazy landing superbug. The reason this one is tricky for the bookies to place odds on is that the bug is both major - despite the PMDG apologists, this is highly atypical behaviour for an addon - and possibly related to core sim issues, in which case the fix or workaround could take much longer. Updating the installers from v4 to v5 would have taken about 5 minutes. The best way to drive sales was to make the NGX incompatible with v5, plus offer an upgrade discount to the shortly-to-be-released (in 2020) MSFS 737. It was a business decision, but not really in the spirit of flight sim addons. Plenty of other devs offered free v5 upgrades. I can understand charging a $10 upgrade fee - maybe - but forcing your customers to buy a whole new plane for v5. Hmmm.... May 2, 20224 yr I really hope these complaints are tongue-in-cheek.... People are acting as if PMDG are willfully keeping their product from us, as if vindictively. Remember....PMDG is a FOR PROFIT organization. They want to release this thing just as quickly as we want it. Reading some of these posts shows a level of entitlement that leaves me genuinely flabbergasted. MSFS marks a new era for flight simulation, and their real flagship aircraft (the DC6 imo was a test bed) needs to be word not allowed near perfect. People, chill TF out. It's coming. We want it out....they NEED to get it out. AMD 9950X3D | 64 GB RAM | RTX 5090 FMR: 747 FO, 757/767 CAPT, 737 Check Airman Current 777 CAPT

It also takes 5 minutes to install the NGX into P3D v5 via the registry method a 10 second Google search will yield. Anyone wanting to install it into v5 can do so by following a couple simple instructions. One can do this or buy the new plane or not do any of it. No one is being forced to do anything. I think that word is losing its actual meaning. They didn't block installation into v5 or inhibit product activation. In fact, they did point out that it can be installed into v5 on their own customer forum, therefore essentially saying "You don't have to buy the new plane to fly the 737 in v5.". Besides, the product is 11 years old and had been replaced already 2 years before P3D v5 even became a thing. Bit strange to fault a business in this case. Edit: Only now did I see you actually implied PMDG actively made the NGX incompatible with v5. Sorry but talk about distorting reality... Edited May 2, 20224 yr by threegreen

Edit: Only now did I see you actually implied PMDG actively made the NGX incompatible with v5. Sorry but talk about distorting reality... Don't overthink it, TG. I'm just commiserating with another simmer who missed flying a 737 in v5 and presumably didn't want to hack it. "It also takes 5 minutes to install the NGX into P3D v5 via the registry method a 10 second Google search will yield." - and a quick Avsim search will show that I posted here quite a few times in the early days telling other simmers how to do this. 🙂 I bought the NGXu day 1, just like I bought the NGX day 1, and will buy the MSFS 737 day 1. It doesn't mean I don't feel bad for other people who miss a specific plane in a specific sim. PMDG made a business decision, as I noted. It wasn't popular with a lot of people, also for the reason I noted - rather than spend 5-10 minutes updating an installer, they forced people who wanted to fly without a registry hack to upgrade. <shrug> You'll note that I called PMDG "cheeky" and not "evil". I haven't seen any posts that show a flabbergasting level - or even a sub-flabbergasting level - of entitlement. Where are you getting that take from?? And in terms of people "chilling out" - that's the opposite of what PMDG themselves have been trying to achieve. Their marketing is based on hype and subtle (or not so subtle) insinuations that a product is moments from release, even when it's really still weeks or months away. Pretty much the exact opposite of Leonardo, who just provide the occasional update during development, and then release the plane as planned.
