I tried this but I can't purchase the sound addon required - is this because the developer is in Russia?

In VoiceMeeter I had the main sound on A1 and the SoundBlaster Play 3 on A2 - just switching them around makes the difference?

You have to also make sure they’re activated in the eq settings a little further down the screen. I too had this problem and was tearing my hair out, and turns out all I needed to to was make them active. I only had A1 active but you gotta make A1 and A2 active.

let me know if you need a screenshot of what I’m talking about?

@MrBitstFlyer Did you get your buttkicker going? Maybe this is way to simple but is the volume on the AMP turned up? I had nothing when I first tried it, it was as simple as turning up the volume on the amp.

I got my buttkicker last night and got it setup. I tried the simshaker sound module in demo mode with MSFS and DCS and seems to be pretty good. But.. between not being able to purchase it because of sanctions and it being tied to your PC/hardware it sounds like a bad purchase for the long term.

What is the best alternative?

For now just use the system sounds  and FS realistic for better effects plus shaking. Its a free 7 day trial.

I will have to try FS realistic. I'm also looking into opus, I know I need something. With just vanilla buttkicker and game sounds everything feels the same to me. With the constant rumble of the engine without the distinction of bumps, stall, gear up/down, ect. it is a bit annoying.

You really need two or more to get the best results. One for the events(bumps, stall, gear up/down,rumble,wind). And one for the sim sounds works the best.

Well, do I feel stupid!

My main sound to headphones and speakers goes through a SteelSeries GameDac - which is connected to my PC by usb.  The cables to the speakers and headphones come out of the GameDac unit. After two days I almost gave up. Even if I used the Y splitter on the GameDac speaker output, I would get nothing through the ButtKicker.  Although I did get vibrations through the SoundBlaster Play 3 usb soundcard, there was no MSFS sound at all - it was one or the other.

I was sitting there looking down at the PC and noticed a headphone 3.5mm output - I literally shouted to myself I was an word not allowed!  I was not using the built in soundcard at all!  I plugged the ButtKicker 3.5mm cable into that socket, selected the built in soundcard in Opus and everything worked!  I think the initial problem must have been because my main sound is connected by usb and so was the Soundblaster Play 3. Even with VoiceMeeter installed and setup correctly there was one or the other - two usb connections just didn't work for me.

In my mind I was using the built in soundcard but obviously I wasn't. Also my built in soundcard was not shown as an option either in Windows sound settings or Opus, presumably because nothing was connected to it.  So I have vibrations through Opus, what I can't experiment with are sounds from MSFS directly as my default sound output is to the GameDac.

All of the effects through Opus are great except turbulence - I can see the aircraft is moving about but I don't get a corresponding effect through the ButtKicker. However, I am getting a short vibration while in the air every couple of seconds. I would expect fairly constent vibrations when the flight is  choppy but no.  I have left Opus sound settings at default so I'm assuming I will have to tune the settings for consistent turbulence - unless others also get little feedback from turbulence?

Thanks very much for the screengrab. I have sorted out the problem now as in my other post - I was an word not allowed 🙂

I agree it gets annoying.  FS Realistic has given me the best felling for turbulence effect so that is what I using on my desk buttkicker, it also has great buffeting and drag effects. Just keep playing with it you will find a sweet spot. You will barley ever have to adjust anything once you find that spot.

I guess the ButtKicker would have to share the sound from MSFS to get FSRealistic effects?

I received my Soundblaster Play 3 today, have not tried it with the buttkicker yet. But playing some music to test it, It sounds just as good as my onboard sound? And better than the USB dongle used for my Razer headphones. Maybe its a placebo but I didn't expect the Soundblaster Play 3 to give me good sound quality more or less equal to onboard sound. I will just be using it for the buttkicker but I did find this interesting.

Does anyone else have problems downloading opus because Windows Defender thinks it is a virus?

Put everything through the onboard sound card and agree FSRealistic does a very nice job.  Just watched a YouTube video of a twin Beech circuit - the effects felt while watching were brilliant!

Good news, SimShaker Sound Module is still available for purchase. You just need to contact Andre directly by email ([email protected]) and he will send you instructions on how to purchase. He usually responds in about 2-3 hours. Also, the key is transferable to another PC. After seeing a forum post, I was under the impression it was tied to the PC you activated it on. So I was hesitant to buy it considering the circumstances and future PC builds. Here is what he said in the email.

I am loving the sound module and the fact it works with DCS also is a bonus.

I had one and used it in FS all the time. But then I needed a lightweight office chair that has to wheel around a lot as I move here and there. The kicker cord is wired to the transducer on the chair and this reduced mobility of the chair drastically. So I put the BK in the closet and it sits there now unused for a couple of years. I can't give up this easy rolling office chair.
