Can we improve our msfs2020 flight simulator experience

Featured Replies

First of, good day to you all.

Well, having looked through the interesting msfs 2020 'want' list thread by Sethos, it got me thinking.   And..   err...  thats about it i think.

Nah, just kidding, just being very funny .. .... 😁

Your Mileage May Vary, of course     😒

The thread triggered me to think about how us avsim members experience msfs 2020. And can we improve this in some way (even iff a small improvement to begin with). So i'll write down a couple ideas

i have, in the hope that something/anything might trigger some other idea or refinement.  Iff the thread idea falls flat, nothing lost..... ill just rename it  " pancake "  or  " the ramblings of a

......  " .

1)   Can we streamline complaints here a bit more ?. So iff someone wants to complain, or express frustration, about anything msfs 2020 related it is not cool to go against the spirit of that thread unless you are reasonably sure of a solution, or can actually help in some way.  In the reverse same way it is not cool to be overly negative about a thread that people are enthused about. It is just that i have noticed this seems to happen sometimes. Also i said that complaints about msfs 2020 or asobo were way overestimated in one thread and should not have said that. Because I normally do my best to make statements based on what can only be backed up with data/evidence, as oppposed to anecdotal evidence or subjective opinion.  Based upon the 2 or 3 million users ??  i just do not know.

This is just one suggestion from a regular member here, and in no way a criticism of how the avsim forums handle complaints.  Personally, i think it is very well run and monitored.

So big thankyou out to the moderators.

2)   What do you think about this idea ?. ( I will not raise it again because i have already once before without any interest or feedback )

Somewhere/somehow a computer sync system could be setup so for more complex/technical problems whereby a 3rd party people can directly access the ' problem users ' computer.

Whilst that without doubt requires trust of any 3rd party into the equation, it is not unusual and (purely my guess) could become quite a normal way of working in some industries, and for some workers and gamers.

So some anecdotal evidence to perhaps support this idea. I currently work with a computer technician, (specialises in audio related technology ), who does exactly this as as fulltime work. Only a year ago i said i dont understand why the demand for this kind of service cannot support you doing this full-time, because he was part-time then. He disagreed ... " people are very clued up these days  so the demand just does not warrant this kind of work for me full time ".

Now he is full time and i have to book in advance..

3) Would it help iff everyone updated their profile to include their complete system specifications, including OS setup and all flight simulator additionals programs so that everyone can see their complete setup without having to ask.

Sorry i know this was a long post, not long finished work and found this a bit tiring tbh. Still i think it is better to suggest something in the off-chance that in may in a small way help the community, or better still trigger a suggestion from someone else.😀.

Maybe I'm tired but I did not understand what you want in this wall of text, no offense.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

No offense at all bud, and appreciate the feedback.

Just that when i see things like UI issues it sends out alarms, I do not want to spend hobby time dealing with files, ui problems and the like. (iff this is woes me ill su )

That said, a third party group network interface with a technician would streamline so much.  Here is already a very good resource, in addition this is becoming normal in industries.

 (e.g AnyDesk technical support)

2 things i have learnt from this saturday experience    🙂

1)  my idea is not well received (fighting back the tears as i type)

2) people who complain that their complaints are brushed aside/dismissed are talking absolute gumphh

stay on topic

No tears please. Though quite long indeed.
1) I did not really understand the point so I will skip it here.

2) may be of general interest to some and really speed things up in terms of fixing some specific setting. While anything like teamviewer may help this should be coordinated between members via PM directly as there are only very few members here I would ever grant access to my PC - if at all

3) this I like indeed. Posts like „I have only 5fps“ are easier to put in context if the poster runs msfs in 4K on an 8GB machine with an Intel celeron and just onboard GPU

1)   To be honest i am not sure what i was talking about here either, so maybe we can all move on and ignore that particular waffle 😁

2)   That is encouraging. I really have found it brilliant for my work and thought why could this not work for msfs 2020? .

You are 100 % right in raising the question of trust. In fact i almost deleted the original post for exactly this reason, thinking that this would be a big no for everybody .  (fwiw I totally trust my technical support person, audio specalist, and worked with him for quite a few years) .

I will give this some thought today and try to think of a workable solution to this (it may be a showstopper,) but will give it some thinking through in case there is a perfectly secure solution. May take a day or two. Iff anyone got an idea about this would be great to hear it.

3)  I have been thinking the same for a while. As you agree that it could be helpful for us, i will put the suggestion to the officials here  It is simple afterall to put this information into your profile once only, with the occasional update.

Thanks for the feedback

I want everyone to post the names of all addons in their community. I'm sure the mods won't punish me for suggesting long sigs....

I think no 2 though may still be potentially helpful.. 🙂

That said iff no extra feedback ill drop the idea.  However, there are nowhere near enough people enthused about any of these ideas basically  🙂

Call it a day

Umm. We are just 2. But I agree that makes the majority and qualifies for a petition. Not sure though what the moderators should do then? I just known that in many cases trying to help my first question is about the HW setup. Maybe I should at the same time suggest to out the specs in the signature.

I like the idea of remote access to my computer, and have had Microsoft techs do that for me a couple of times, but it would be hard to find the volunteers and personally I don't know if I could trust volunteers as much as I did Microsoft. Unless I was really desperate.

Same here, 1 1/2 paragraphs were enough for me.

Yeah, sorry about the length of that text all wont do that again.

Network access in business/industry i suppose does not aotomatically translate to a gaming platform, or in this case a flight simulator forum, as i am fast learning.

Also feedback is way low on this so ill call a day on all this totally.  Thanks for reading people though anyway.

ASOBO has to continue to improve the core sim:

Flight planner can be more robust.

Live weather can be improved significantly.

AI traffic, especially the live feature, needs to be addressed and fixed.

ATC is getting better but the voices are not as good and we need more voices.

Default aircraft & avionics need constant updates.

The WUs have been both a blessing and a curse. I like better looking cities, but not melted buildings, mismatch colors, or degraded performance.
