Ram flushing utilities.

Ram usage says 22%. Before clicking on it, was 57%. Only took 5 seconds to flush. There are probably a dozen or more of these little freeware ram flush utilities available. This one restores a clogged MSFS running fully during long flights for me. The Ram  thingy only shows on the desktop, not in MSFS.

Mine is part of an iObit app which I use, Advanced System Care. I have seen messages here saying it can cause big problems in MSFS depending on if you set it to use automatic options (Advanced System Care is a giant app that does lots of stuff).

So I would recommend a simpler tiny app that only does one thing: flush ram, sometimes called 'clean ram'. There many to chose from, they all work about the same, I think.

That's awesome, I'll check it out. Thanks!

Footnote: why the low rez desktop image?? That hurts my eyes.

I don't know how to capture and store all the historical desktop landscape images which Microsoft sends our way daily. So my desktop slideshow settings depends on landscape images captured from the internet. In short, I don't know where to go to nab high res landscapes.

Windows and basically every OS will do automatically this for you when software requests more RAM.

There is really no need for stuff like that. But everyone is of course free to sell his email address and personal data to whomever he desires 😉

I use a free app called Reboot PC. It's integrated into Windows and even has it's own hardware interface built into the front and back of my PC case in the form of electronic switches.

I also think this is pure snake oil. It's a bit like looking at Chrome ram usage in Task Manager and thinking it actually uses all of the reserved ram. If there is a real ram leak this would only be temporary anyway. Then the cause needs to be fixed. But I never noticed any ram leak in MSFS anyway.

I think memory sweeping or stopping redundant services is not connected with any kind of 'memory leak', it is only about to release some resources being occupied or being partly released by other processes.

Yes. And if I leave MSFS in flight and go away for a few hours, it often has slowed to a crawl or cut off access to scenery. A mouse click to release RAM and all is likely to be well instantly, in my experience.

All might be well now or later, for me, probably... 🙂

I’ve got several iObit programs. Once in a while I use the “purge RAM” option from the desktop “app”. Don’t think it has had any detrimental consequences. And by the way I thought it was a part of Driver Booster.
