July 18, 20223 yr No need to send them home at the end of their daily shift. Prevent congestion on streets at rush hour. Lengthen work hours per day. Just install these booths ! After the alarm wakes them back up, set them busy again. The sleep areas take but little office space. They look like little water heaters. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/offices-install-nap-boxes-workers-27511941 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. July 19, 20223 yr The article states its for use while they are on shift and not between one shift to another. Go to any flight Ops office where they do 12 hour shifts and you will see people taking a snooze in their cars on their hour breaks. I used to do it all the time when I did 7 till 7 days and nights in OCC. We used to have a girl in OCC that we would have to wake up (after an hour) by shaking the chair when she fell asleep in the chair on night shift. She slept that heavily. The guys used to love giving the chair a shake as she was quite voluminous Go to any hospital on nights and youll see the nurses having 40 winks in the break room when they take their hour break. If the drivers and dolly's can have 4 plus hours crew rest on a 4 man augmented 12 hour duty then why not in the office. I think it's a good idea. If half the country can work from home when it's a bit hot, then shift workers can have a doze at work. Edited July 19, 20223 yr by fluffyflops
July 19, 20223 yr I used to work 12 hr. midnight shifts on a Military Police Desk. We had a back room connected to the Desk area, and if it was real slow with nothing going on, we would cover for each other & take turns in that room for 20-30 minutes to close our eyes and zonk out. But this seems kind of bizzare. I can see this backfiring. Will the pod be placed in view for everyone to see? Who will be the first to try it? Will the Japanese Company Man culture kick in and employees will be reluctant to use them? "The creation came from two companies hoping to encourage a healthier office culture in Japan." Maybe they want their employees to stay even longer at the office that they already are. I hope there'll be a follow up article to see how it turns out.
July 19, 20223 yr I have a very difficult time trying sleep during the day. I've tried to take naps but usually just lie awake and finally give up and get up. I do fall asleep sometimes in the evening while watching television. I normally go to bet around midnight and get up between 6:00 or 6:30 so, unlike my wife, I get 6 ours of uninterrupted sleep each night. On the other hand she naps all the time and goes to bed at 9:00PM but is back up at Midnight and goes back to bed about 3:00AM and gets back up at about 6:00AM. She takes several naps during the day.
