P3Dv5.3 Sound issue.

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Looking for a little help or advice regarding a sound issue i am having with all aircraft(payware or default). All settings

in the windows sounds is set to do nothing plus the speakers are set correctly in windows and P3D settings.

The problem is anytime during a flight the sound from the cockpit (buttons switches etc) will disappear along with the sound

from FS2 Crew but the sound from outside the aircraft engines etc remains along with Radar Contact and FS Chatter.

This will just happen randomly,i have tried numerous things to fix this to no avail, anybody got any ideas to fix it.

With Thanks,

Gary Jones

Just a possibility... Windows sound drivers have a glitch that even though "Do nothing" is checked, it's not. I always open the sound settings before a flight on PilotEdge and check "reduce by 50%" and "apply" then check "do nothing" and "apply" then close. Try it and see if it works. Pain in the butt to do every time but fixes the problem for me.

I cannot say definitely but when I have had sound problems, I have removed the "offending" devices in Device Manager, including drivers and let Windows install afresh from a restart. This seems to reset any conflicting driver issues.

A more permanent fix is to set your sim sound device to something different than the default sound device...in my case I have my GPU's integrated nVidia HD Audio device set as the default device (plays on my 55" TV via HDMI) and the sim is set to my XFi sound device.

The poorly-controlled Windows communications muting is only applied to the default sound device, so this way it does not affect the sim.

Thanks for the responses Guys,i will try them, what has me stumped is that all the other sounds, engines,Radar Contact,FS Chatter etc work perfectly it just effects the cockpit and FS2 Crew.

Happened again last night 2 hours into a 4 hour flight lost all sound this time even the engines, the only things that where working sound wise was the 3rd party

addons,FS2 Crew,FS Chatter,Radar Contact so it must be a P3D issue, the only way to get the sound back is to restart the sim.

Yes, feeble humor attempt. It really did fix my problem.
