I have tried every suggestion so far........................

Featured Replies

Been without MSFS for 10 days now. Originally would not load due to 0x80004005 error, tried various suggestions, eventually uninstalled MSFS 2020 - and now get the 0x0000001 error when I try and reinstall. I have searched forums and the youtube channel and have tried every suggestion, including reinstalling windows without losing data and apps. Other than formatting the discs and starting from scratch - surely there has to be a solution?

I already had a thread on this forum on the same subject, which I posted about 10 days ago - just reaching out again - in case someone in the community has any further suggestions.

My version of MSFS is the store version, and I am trying to reinstall it on to my window 10 PC (64bits)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions - I need to get flying again

Did you file a support ticket at the official MSFS forum? I can't remember the exact link for it, but search around, there is an official support ticket system.  You will get help from an MSFS support representative, and that person may be able to help you out more.

Is that the 'out of memory' error.  If so, I would run a test of your memory.

Whilst memory corruption is more common than people think, so many people are having this issue, there must be an issue in the msfs coding somewhere.

Have you tried running msfs with no addons?

I've had this happen in the past when my settings were too high.  Try lowering everything a notch.  I found setting the render scale and LODs too high were an issue for me.  Try running with default msfs and video software settings.

This can be a really hard one to get a handle on TBH.

I have tested the memory and all OK

Cannot run MSFS - so cannot try without add ons

Thanks

I don't think it's the coding of MSFS that is causing the problem, but more like, MSFS will stress your system out more than other games.  I also had memory issues with MSFS where I CTDed quite frequently, but at the same time, I would also CTD with Age of Empires 4 about once in 10 games.  So both MSFS and Age of Empires 4 was causing me to CTD, but MSFS just CTDed way more often than Age of Empires 4.  I also played Forza Horizon 5 but I didn't CTD when I played that.  My Windows 11 system was also stable too when I wasn't playing any games.

Turns out, my overclocked RAM was causing the issue: https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/622877-any-gpu-overclocking-results-in-ctds/?tab=comments#comment-4823993. When I lowered the clock speed of my RAM so that I wasn't overclocked anymore, MSFS has since been stable for me, as well as Age of Empires 4. Looking back, it was obvious that MSFS was pushing my system to the limit so it would CTD the most frequently. Age of Empires 4 pushed my system less so it also CTDed less (but it still CTDed).  And for whatever reason, Forza Horizon 5 didn't push my system at all, compared to MSFS and Age of Empires 4.

Have you managed to reinstall it or did I read that you were unable to even reinstall due to these errors?

No, I have not been able to reinstall it - due to the errors - and have followed numerous suggestions including Microsoft's basic and advanced troubleshooting - all without success. Thanks

Thanks for your response. My system is not overclocked, as I have read previously that it can be a cause of CTDs. My issue is that I cannot reinstall MSFS 2020, despite trying all suggestions to resolve that I have been able to so far find. Keep getting the error codes 0x00000001 or 0x80004005 when I try and reinstall through either Xbox or MyStore app.

Ok, this sounds much more like a hardware fault than something specific to MSFS then. I would be inclined to download some benchmarking tools and run some stress tests - see if you can run these for 15 mins +. It may still be a Windows issue though so if the above runs without issue then I would try a Windows repair and install the latest version of all your drivers including motherboard chipset etc.

After this, a Windows reinstall may be the next option but I'm trying to avoid that suggestion so far.

This error seems a bit of a showstopper so i am saying it is something to do with a boot corruption, perhaps from the Windows reinstall or a drive failure.

Google "error 0x0000001" and you will see what fixes there are for this.

Cheers

No. No, Mav, this is not a good idea.

Sorry Goose, but it's time to buzz the tower!

What version of Windows are you running? Also, have you tried disabling any Antivirus programs before trying to install?
