DX12 and TAA, with a 3080Ti.

DX12 and TAA with a 2070 Super. Butter smooth and 60fps. I'm using the studio driver. Haven't seen any weird artifacts. Yet.

Chillblast Core i5 14600KF Liquid Cooled RTX 4070 SUPER 32GB RAM. Internet: 1 Gig Fibre. HoneyComb Throttle & Flight System.

UK PPL since 2006 current on PA-28, C-152, C172, Decathlon, C-42 based at EGHP.

System:  I7 9700K,  RTX2070S,  Reverb G2, newest nVidia game-ready driver

I fly exclusively in VR, so have not tested 2D.  Best combination for my setup in VR has been DX11 & DLSS (balanced)

Unfortunately I cannot test DX12, as switching to VR mode after loading a flight results in instant CTD every time when DX12 is enabled.

Ryzen 5800X3D, EVGA 3090Ti running in 1440P on a Super Ultra Wide display.

In my limited testing thus far, I have found that I much prefer TAA to DLSS. As to DX11 or DX12, I don't really notice much difference between the two on my system, but I am running in DX12 for the better CPU utilization, which so far, looks like it is spread out evenly across all 8 of my CPU cores. Most of my flying is done in the Fenix A320, and I have been flying in and around large UK and Western European airports with very smooth flights and no stutters. To be fair though, I was getting similar smoothness in SU9, but my CPU cores were definitely not being used as efficiently as they are in SU10 DX12.

AMD Ryzen 9900X3D & ASUS X870E Gaming Plus MB, w/64 Gb GSkill DDR5 RAM, PNY RTX 5090 GPU, lots of SSD's and M.2 drives, HAVN  Case, Virpil VPC Panels 2 and 3, Virpil Constellation Alpha Stick, Virpil Rotor TCS Plus w/ Hawk-60 Collective grip, TM TCA Yoke Boeing Edition, TM HOTAS A-10 and F/A-18 Sticks and TM TPR Rudder pedals. Currently on Win11

More people are reporting this, and I think DX12 will only improve in the future. I don't see any good reasons not to use it on my system. But I'm at TAA for now.

Do you have hyperthreading enabled? Or the AMD equivalent?

@Cpt_Piett SMT is the AMD equivalent, and I have it disabled. That said, it was disabled before SU10, so I have not tried since updating. I should though, just to see if DX12 makes good use of those virtual cores as well. And as I stated previously, I too prefer TAA. I am currently flying in the Fenix from EIDW to ESGG, so when I am finished, I will turn on SMT and do some testing. Thanks for asking, or I might have not thought about it 😉

I'm on a 12900 with 8 performance cores (2 threads per core) and 8 efficiency cores, a total of 16 cores and 24 threads. It's quite impressive how DX12 manages to use all threads; the performance cores getting a higher usage. I think this is the future. No more using 2 or 3 of 24 threads. With DX12 both CPU and GPU usage is much more sensible.

Hmm. I sense a disturbance in the Force. Vader? Do you sense it too?

it's interesting to see the results from high-core-count cpu's, like a 12900, in DX12 mode.

It appears that we will not have thread collision issues in these scenarios from all of the threads and many, many cores.

Am I correct in stating that the only reason to turn off SMT / HT would be to control heat?  Or is there some other reason to disable HT  (intel) and SMT (AMD)?

In my experience, turning off HT/SMT was not to control heat issues. For me, before SU10 and DX12 in MSFS, the HT/SMT cores were not really used, so it was a waste of CPU power, which in my case led to some stutters and lower frame rates. It was not horribly worse with HT/SMT on, but enough to warrant turning it off IF you didn't need it for other purposes outside of MSFS.

Had TAA and dx12 enabled thou there was weird trails/ artefacts behind scenery and traffic.

now I have dx11 and TAA enabled

After a re-installation of MSFS caused by GR 517.48 drivers, I find that for me the best: DX12 + TAA in the configuration of GTX 1660, i5, 16 GB, with FLLTL, Seafront, drivers 517.40 studio.
