Wonder if anyone else is seeing this

This may have already been discussed, but I can't find it.  After being away from th sim for a few weeks, I start it normally and it seems to work fine, problem is when I select an airport, it zooms in as per usual but no airport terrain, as in taxiways or buildings.  The runways and parking spots show up fine but they are on a background that looks like camouflage.  This happens at all airports addons, payware and native airports.  Any thoughts?

I do not have this problem, but I do recall some talk about deleting the scenery cache

Check your filters on the World Map. Make sure precipitation and cloud cover are turned off.

No joy, checked those are off, even with live weather, same thing, clear day here.  You can see the ground and runways perfectly, even shows the dots for parking spaces, just no terminal buildings

Don't know how to post a .jpg screenshot here to show.

You need to upload your picture to a site like https://imgur.com/, get the URL to your picture, and then you post the URL to your picture here.

I would suggest you empty your Community folder (backup your add-ons of course), or just rename your Community folder so that it's empty.  Add-ons are typically a huge reason for some bugs and CTDs in MSFS.

Absolutely right.  Always the first thing to check when troubleshooting.  There are some very badly optimised add on utility, aircraft and sceneries out there.

Ok, I have renamed my Community folder, and started FS, it created a new Community folder and no joy, tried starting FS with and without Addon Manager, (which I usually use), no joy.  I will try to post an image of the issue.spacer.png

I've been having this same issue - intermittently - for the past 3 or 4 days. When it happens, it does so in any airport. I'm thinking it seems more like a server issue because of the following symptoms:

  • the loading time for a flight is noticeably higher when this happens
  • has happened so far only at night (on Friday and today which was a public holiday, so maybe higher loads expected)
  • switching online functionality to "off" loads the airport textures correctly (while reducing quality of the rest as expected)
  • even the satellite images in the pre-flight screen world map show as blurry

Of course, we've heard of the internet outages and disruptions across Europe recently, maybe this is affecting the game servers?

I suspect you may be correct about the server issue.  My profile says I was offline, I signed out and back in again and it appears to have me back online but same issue with the World map.  I haven't flown FS for a week or so and don't recall seeing this issue, I didn't change anything nor add any aircraft or scenery.  The sim works fine, just whatever the source for the background on the World Map, appears to be off, the whole thing looks like military camo.

Does anyone know where the imagery that is produced for the World map comes from?  Is it Bing, Google or something else?  I believe this is where the problem is.

Always Bing with Microsoft products such as MSFS.  Unless you have the google map mod installed of course!

By the way, I have had this issue intermittently over the past few days.  It doesn't bother me so much as I tend to start on the runway.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

I agree that it's not the worse issue we could deal with, just wanted to see if I have some setting wrong or something, maybe it will clear up if they are having server issues.
