TOGA Envshade - can't get it to load properly P3Dv5.3

Greetings all!

I've been beating my head against my desk this evening trying to get TOGA EnvShade to work with P3D5.3. I have downloaded and installed all the necessary files - including the TOGA ENVTEX P3DV5 expansion. When I attempt to install the shaders, I get a message to the effect that I need to update/upgrade my product with the v5 version (which I already have). Also, when I exit P3Dv5.3, I get error messages regarding shaders. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the TOGA products mentioned, but that has no effect.

I restored the original P3d shaders, so I no longer get that error message upon closing the sim. However, I'd really like to get the TOGA products working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,

Scott

Locate your TOGA installation folder.  By default it will be in In c:\Users\ Your Name\ AppData\Local\Toga Projects. Open the folder that folder you will see  Envdir. Open the folder and you will see  Resources. Open Resources and there are several .bat files. Among them is Troubleshooting.bat.

Run it and that should get you going. Hope it works.

Unfortunately, the support from TOGA Projects is now pretty much dead. I had issues with the installation as well when I moved to Windows 11 and their response was that they don't support Windows 11. I'm not really convinced it's worth the candle with P3D v5.3 and EA - when I did get it working the differences were hardly noticeable and it was never really clear if it was working as intended. It also required patching as they never really produced a one step installation - which to me just reiterated that they had moved on to other work after 5.3 came out.

Thanks for the replies!

@Shermank: I ran the troubleshooter and got a message that it couldn't find the files specified.

@Simfan: Yes, I too am running Windows 11 on a new simming computer.

From what I've seen in this forum and elsewhere, I agree about the lack of support from TOGA Projects. I tried RD Presets on my previous machine but didn't really like the results at the time. I'll probably uninstall TOGA and give RD Presets a try again.

I had Envshade and Envtex working well on my Windows 10 machine in P3dV5.  I had to reinstall P3d about 3 months ago and I could never get the TOGA projects programs to work again.  When installing or modifying anything in ENVdirect, it would mess up my scenery library.  Tried to get support on their forum but it is now overrun by bots posting nonsense.  I uninstalled their products and moved on to RDShade.

I got RDShade installed today and have been trying out the presets.

Anyone have any recommendations for RDShade presets? I'm new to P3Dv5.3, having moved from v4.5. Not sure if I like the EA or not...

Scott

I agree with all the above. Worked fine until the need to do a reinstall. Then I also was not convinced it was working and I kept getting strange error messages and yes I am sure it messed up some LM textures and shaders. So again I followed the same route fresh download, reinstall, no you need to get the update, update it, then fails to change anything then wants you to install ENVTEX for their sky textures when your only interested in shaders and then finally it came up but was greyed out on the control app screen in critical  function areas.

Removed the application. Nuked the LM Shader Directory and the Shader config file. Reinstalled LM Shaders rebuilt the config and that is where I am staying. ENVSHADE is broken and I guess will not be fixed.

I think you are correct, it is broken and abandoned. The only Email I have ever gotten for months has been spam from TOGA. Maxime seems to have abandoned it for whatever reasons. I think he lives in Russia and perhaps that has something to do with it. Remember the teases for Envshade+? That turned out to be only vaporware.

Mine still works because I have not changed settings for quite a while, though to be honest I have not done any before and after pix, so who knows, maybe I am looking at a flight sim scenery chimera.

So it goes.

To be honest I am not sure that the ENVSHADE shader tweaks actually did much now I am running standard LM EA and True Sky I just cannot see it. Now and then I substitute AS Clouds and Cloud Art that is more impressive really for overall shading and just AS EA+TrueSky menu controls for the weather engine display seem just as good.

I’ve pretty much abandoned it as well; and have also experienced limited (or no) responses to support requests.

Guess I’ll look into RDShade or see if there are any other products out there similar.
